PETE ORR
was only 46 when he left this world, but Pete was a man who created more friends, admirers, and respect than most men could imagine in any lifetime.
On and off the race track he was looked upon
as a man of honor and integrity. Not only as a great race car driver, but as a great teacher..
"Pete Orr was second to none in his giving spirit, personality and willingness to help a fellow competitor. He will be greatly missed by
many he never knew held him in high esteem. He was the example!!!" , posted one race fan on a message board.

Carl Mobley, former videographer at Orlando Speedworld and one of the true "old timers"
said "I have an autographed poster of Pete hanging on my wall, which now becomes even more of a treasure to me. His listed accomplishments at that time were Speedweek Champion New Smyrna Speedway
1992 - 1993, Orange Blossom 100 Champion 91, 92, 93, World 200 Champ 1993, Seafest 125 Champ 1992, Cracker 200 Champ 1992,Triple Crown Champ 91 & 92."
Bob McDowell perhaps best put things into
focus: "A pioneer of friendship and love, A true hero in our hearts was this man, A man who didn't know or even realize the word quit. I have had the pleasure of knowing
Pete for a very long time, Pete you will never be forgotten, I pray today for your family and all who knew you. Your in a better place now and I shall await the day to one once again
say hello. God Bless our good friend Pete..."

This is just the beginning, with much more background, history, accomplishments and comments from fans, students, and competitors to be added.
I first met Pete Orr in late 1997 or early 1988 when he was working with B.J. McLeod. My first
impression of the man was that this was a very special person. In my travels in and around stock car racing since then, in a sport and a business that has it's gritty
side at times, Pete Orr has always stood out as an example of integrity and professionalism.
We need to grow more racers like Pete Orr, which is the reason we created the Pete Orr Sportsmanship Award. -Jack Smith |

Hi my name is David Green ( Busch Series Driver ). I knew & raced with Pete during the 80's in the Nascar
All-American Challenge Series. I'm so sorry to hear this, Pete was a Great Human Being & a Awesome Race Car Driver on top of that.
Is there a way to send Flowers or a donation ? If you
could help me with that info, I'd appreciate it.
Your article was great
& it was so Pete Orr. Pete will be greatly missed, he will always be in my heart.

A couple of things that stand out in my mind: Taking the out-dated Blue 27 car to
victory at Orlando.
Teaming with David Russell in the Horsen Around Farms cars.
The Champion TV Rentals car.
Getting the Busch series ride, and qualifying 10th at Daytona in his first
trip there. . Pete has touched the lives of many of our greatest local racers, brought MANY guys up to speed (some, enough to even beat him). Not many people have the GIFT to be able to build a car, tune
it, set it up, and wheel it into victory lane..... at MANY places. -Jerry Binner
______________
I was blessed enough to have worked with him, not a day went by with out a laugh not a day went by with out learning somthing new about racing or life.
He
taught me many things gave me confidence on the track. He was one of the best.
I will never forget what we shared what I learned.
I have done a lot of traveling there wasn't a place I have
been were I was not asked about him, he will always be a legend.
I just hope i am lucky enough to have him ride shot gun.
