LATE MODELS HELP AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY WRAP UP 2009 REGULAR SEASON SATURDAY NIGHT | by Dave Westerman
Auburndale Speedway will wrap up a very successful 2009 regular racing season this Saturday night with the Late Models headlining a six division show.
A good field of the high-powered Late Model cars are expected to be on hand with the point race coming down to a battle between two second-generation veterans. Wildwood's Wayne Anderson, who has be driving the Sytsma "Silver Bullet" at Auburndale this year, currently leads the point chase by just 13 markers over Lakeland's Raymond Lovelady. Lovelady won the most recent Late Model feature held on October 17th.
Other top challengers include Jeff Scofield, Kevin Macy, Perry Lovelady, Jason Rendell, Steve Avinger, David King, Jason Vail, Todd Brown, Andy Anderson, Harold Crooms, Kevin Ingram, and Randy Anderson.
The Modified Mini Stocks wrap up their season Saturday night with Chris Zimmerman already wearing the crown of 2009 Champion. The always entertaining Mini Cup cars will be in action as well as the V-8 Bombers.
The Street Stocks will run a pair of features this Saturday. After the regular feature is run, the final race of the night will pit those drivers who have not won a feature in 2009 against each other. A nice $100 bill and trophy await the winner of that race. One driver who won't be in that feature is James Wright III. He has several wins on the season and the 2009 point championship already in his pocket.
The final event of 2009 at Auburndale Speedway happens on New Years Eve, December 31st. The New Years Eve Bash will feature a 100 lap Enduro, a School Bus Figure 8 race, Pro Figure 8's, and an Outlaw Demo Derby.
The 2010 racing season at Auburndale Speedway is slated to begin on Saturday, February 20th.
