HALLOWEEN FEATURES SPRINT CARS AND TREATS AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY | by Dave Westerman
It's Halloween Saturday night and Auburndale Speedway is the place to be this week for plenty of fun and racing excitement.
Rather than go door to door in the neighborhood, kids will be able to go race car to race car in the infield and load up on plenty of treats during intermission. There will also be a Halloween costume contest as well.
The racing action will see the Florida Winged Sprints back once again to provide a big treat for race fans young and old alike. A good field of Sprint Cars is expected and rumors are flying that veteran Gene Lasker, who has been on a tear on dirt lately, will bolt on some asphalt tires and take on the field this week including rival and friend Paulie Milum who currently leads the Florida Winged Sprint Car point standings. Milum loaned Lasker's team a magneto at East Bay Raceway last week and Lasker promptly went out and won yet another feature. It's been awhile since Lasker has been on a hard surface, but he has done well when he's tackled the asphalt.
Milum leads the point standings by the slim margin of five points over Tim George. George is just eight points ahead of third place Mike Schroeder. Travis Bliemeister and Charlie Lee round out the top five in points.
Seven other classes will also be in action including the Modified Mini Stocks, Mini Stocks, Scramblers, Legend Cars, V-8 Bombers and Bandoleros. After a few weeks off, the Mini Cup cars will return to action as well.
Grandstand gates open at 5PM and racing begins at 7PM with plenty of Halloween fun during intermission.
