UDLMCS Heads to Volusia Speedway Park this Saturday for the Late Model Fall Nationals | VSP MEDIA
Barberville, FL (October 19, 2009) In just five more days, the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series will have their Florida State Late Model All-Star Championship with racing action on Friday night at Ocala Speedway for $3000 to win followed by Saturday night at Volusia Speedway Park and $5000 to win. These two races will be the next to last race for the series and both nights will see plenty of action.
"We tried our best to run the Labor Day Late Model Shootout with the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series," said General Manager Tonya Moschell, "but Mother Nature would just not cooperate with us. We tried twice and each time we were rained out. This will be our last race of the year with the series and we are definitely looking forward to Saturday night and a great turnout."
"With the weather so nice right now and not melting the fans or drivers, we expect a good crowd Saturday night and a great field of drivers. With the series running Friday night at Ocala, this will definitely be a test to see who really is the "best of the best". It is always a challenge for the drivers when they run two nights in a row and must do repairs if needed."
"With $8000 on the line if one driver can win both nights taking home the $3000 at Ocala and $5000 here at Volusia, you can beat these guys are going to put on one action packed show."
Jason Fitzgerald currently leads the points going into Friday night's race at Ocala Speedway with 3010 points. Right behind Fitzgerald and only forty points behind is Mark Whitener. Whitener has three wins under his belt thur far this year, February 28th at Ocala Speedway, April 18 at East Alabama Motor Speedway and May 2nd at North Florida Speedway.
Third in points is last year's Champion Johnny Collins with 2900 points. Collins won this year at Waycross Speedway on August 8th. Fourth in points is Dillon Wood with 2580 points followed by Russell Brown, Jr. with 2400 points. Keith Nosbisch is sixth in points with 2060 and also has two wins under his belt. Nosbisch won the only race on asphalt this year for the series at Charlotte County Motorsports Park on August 22nd and took the Ponce de leon Classic win on September 26th at Hendry County Speedway.
Tyler Ivey is seventh in points with 1530 followed by Ivednet Lloyd, Jr. with 1440 points. Lloyd also has three wins under his belt winning on March 29th at Golden Isles Speedway, May 19 at Ocala Speedway and June 27th at Volusia Speedway Park. Completing the top ten are Clay Bedenbaugh with 1220 points followed by Adam Bedenbaugh with 1040 points.
Dennis Williams leads the Rookie points with 860 followed by Travis Rhoden with 420 and Bobby Clark with 360.
Along with the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Late Model Fall Nationals will be the Modifieds, Street Stocks and Thunder Stocks. General admission is $15.00, students 11-15 $7.00, children 10 and under FREE. Drive-in parking is $10.00.
