Faster Pastors Return to Ocala | by BJ Cavin
ZUBER, FL- One of the most popular events of the 2008 racing season at Ocala Speedway was "Church Night" featuring "Faster Pastor Racing." Because of the overwhelming popularity of the promotion, the Ocala Speedway staff and Ocala Speedway Ministries have worked together to make "Church Night" an annual event, and this Friday night the Second Annual Church Night will finally arrive.
The 2008 Faster Pastor event drew everything from preachers to youth ministers as Ocala Speedway's racers donated their cars and their time to train the clergy in preparation for the race. And what a race it was, with Pastor Larry Miller making an outside pass in turn 2 to get past the leaders and win on the final lap. Pastor Miller will be back to defend his title, and others will be there to take it away from him. All monies won by the Faster Pastors will be given as a gift from Ocala Speedway to their respective ministries, and church members are encouraged to come out and cheer on their ministers.
Fans are reminded that "Church Night" is an alcohol free event, meaning that there will be no alcohol sold and none allowed on the premises. Participating churches will be recognized, as will the volunteers who make up Ocala Speedway Ministries.
In addition to Faster Pastor Racing, fans will see action from the Open Wheel Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Amsoil V8 Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks, and the Gladiators. Grandstand gates open at 5PM with hot laps at 7PM. Heat races get underway at 8PM with feature races to follow. Have an opinion on
