| Ocala Speedway Banquet Date Changed | by BJ Cavin
The organizers of the Ocala Speedway Banquet of Champions have worked long and hard to put together quite a party. But many racers were unhappy because the date chosen for the event forced a choice between participating in some racing events at other tracks, or coming to the festivities. So in order to allow more of the racers to attend, Ocala Speedway has changed the date of this year's banquet to Friday, December 5th.
All other plans for the party remain unchanged except for the date. The festivities are open to everyone including the fans, and will begin at 5PM with music, dancing, and a bonfire, plus plenty of good food and beverages. Ocala Speedway will provide the meats for the buffet, and everyone else attending is asked to bring a covered dish. To see what dishes may be needed please see Rhonda Erickson at the main concession stand, or phone her at 352-427-7972. Anyone that shows up at the event without a covered dish will be charged an extra $10 for admission.
Beverages are at the discretion of those attending the event, but Ocala Speedway will provide Budweiser on tap. Those who wish to BYOB may do so, and space for overnight camping will be available away from the party area for anyone who might wish to turn in early.
Those who wish to attend the 2008 Ocala Speedway Banquet of Champions are reminded that the last day to purchase tickets is November 28th. Tickets can be purchased at the Ocala Speedway office on race nights or through the week. Call the speedway at 352-622-9400 for more info, or to arrange to purchase tickets on weekdays.
