Innovative Driving Program for Teens Holds Grand Opening | Teens Gain Enhanced Driving Skills In A Safe, Controlled Environment
Tampa, Fl, December 1, 2007: Teen Scene Driving Academy (TSDA) was created to fill a void that currently exists not only in the Tampa Bay area, but nationwide. Prior to the creation of TSDA, there was a lack of affordable, comprehensive, professional driving programs that focus on the unique needs of teen drivers.
Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds in this country. According to the National Safety Council (NSC), these crashes account for 44% of all teen deaths in the U.S. The NSC sees this as a national crisis and has divided the problem into 3 distinct issues. They are
· Reduce teen driver’s exposure to risk
· Modify risky behavior
· Develop driving skills and experience
TSDA addresses each of these issues through 3 hours of intensive classroom instruction, combined with 9 hours of skills training on the driving range. “Classroom instruction is critical to the success of the program, if we don’t change attitudes, thinking and decision making, all the driving skill in the world goes to waste.” says Randy Davis, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for TSDA.
--Advertisement-- The program combines both classroom and behind the wheel training to create a new generation of safer, more courteous drivers on our nation’s highways. By teaching young drivers how to drive THEIR car better, and more safely, we can reduce the senseless loss of young lives on our highways.
We will be open to the media and public on Saturday, December 8, 2007 from 9:00am-4:00pm at Tampa Bay Technical High School, 6410 N. Orient Rd. Tampa, FL 33605. We will have a class in session for you to observe and talk with both young drivers and their parents as well as TSDA staff members.
