By Matt Prieur-ASA Late Model Series
Lexington, Michigan (10/08/2007): In the wake of the extenuating circumstances that were beyond the control of the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division Presented by GM Performance Parts, the Seafest 100, scheduled for Saturday October 6, 2007 has been postponed and will not be rescheduled at the Desoto (FL) Super Speedway.
Due to the nature of this event and situation that called for this event to be postponed, all ASALMS Southern Division teams that were in attendance will receive Show-Up as well as Qualifying Points earned.
In addition, all ASALMS South teams that were on hand on Friday will also receive the minimum points earned that they would have garnered by starting the Seafest 100. In this case, a minimum of 90 points will be applied to each teams Drivers and Owners Points Standings!
In a statement released by the ASALMS it was stated that: “Due to the circumstances surrounding the race at the Desoto Super Speedway, this event has been postponed and will be rescheduled at another venue due to the Physical Assault on an ASALMS Official by the Desoto Super Speedway Owner. Charges have been filed in Manatee County.
The race has not been lost however as ASALMS Officials along with the South Georgia (GA) Motorsports Park, located North of the Florida/Georgia state line in Cecil, Georgia have come to terms to reschedule this event in the month of November on a date “To Be Determined”.
