Desoto Champ Karts added to Charity Truckers Weekend Line-Up | C.A.R.S. Motorsports & racer Marketing
Orlando FL. 9-9-07 - Event promoter Rick Bristol announced this weekend the addition of the DeSoto Champ Kart series to the line-up for the second annual Charity Truckers 200.
" I am excited to announce we have reached an agreement with the DeSoto Champ Kart series to run a 25 Lap event on Friday night December 14th as part of Tampa Bay Truck Wash Pole Night" stated Bristol.
" Phil Harp the president of the series wanted to help the Helmick family, so they are coming to support and race for the charity. They are working to raise sponsors and donations to bring for the family and we are thankful to have their support".
The champ kart series was started about 2 years ago at DeSoto Speedway. They run a couple times a month at Charlotte County Motorsports Park now as well. These karts will run 3 wide at speeds at over 70 mph in the draft.They have 5 hp Briggs and Stratton engines that run on alcohol. They are mini sprint cars without wings, they have full cages and all the safety items. They run on 6 inch tires and rims, with a mandated gear. There are drivers from the age of 15 to some in their early 50's. They are expecting around 20 of these little lightning quick racers.
The Friday night Pole Night sponsored by Tampa Bay Truck Wash Center is shaping up to be outstanding racing. The night will begin at 7:30 with Pole Qualifying for the Pro-Trucks for the Biscayne Roofing Truckers 200 where 20 will be locked in for the biggest short track truck race in the country. Then, Pole qualifying for the first ever Kids Truck State Championship sponsored by Ramm Transport. Then the nights racing will feature the Desoto Champ karts going 25 Laps, followed by a couple races for the Daytona Antique Cars sprints and stockers. Then the Mini-cups will race for a 40 Lap charity event, rounding out the night will be a wild strictly stock 30 lapper $500 winner take all race sponsored by Webb's Commercial Services.
Saturday night the Legend cars will join the trucks for a three race program. The Ramm Transport Kids State Championship 35 will race first, the Legends will run a 30 lap event second on the schedule. Then the big event the Biscayne Roofing Charity Truckers 200 takes to the track. Last years event was great this years will be even bigger and better, don't miss it. Nascar Craftsman Truck series driver David Starr will be racing in the event this year along with the states best truck drivers. A 1 hour autograph session will take place on Saturday from 5:15 - 6:15p.m. Pre-race ceremonies at 6:30 Racing at 7p.m.
