Second Leg of Triple Crown and Extreme Modified 75 this Saturday at USA International Speedway | by Jane Smith
Lakeland, Fla. (July 31, 2007) The second leg of the Guaranteed Concrete Triple Crown presents the Michael Holley Chevrolet 200 this Saturday night under the stars at USA International in Lakeland. This race will showcase the stars of the FASCAR Sunoco Sunbelt Super Late Model Series but will not only race the second leg of the Triple Crown but also for the Florida State Late Model Championship.
Jeff Scofield was the Florida State Late Model Champion in 2006 with other winners Fain Skinner, Jacob Warren, and Dwayne Dempsey. Each know how it feels to win that Championship and to hold the title for a year.
Wayne Anderson goes into the second race leading the Triple Crown points followed by Dwayne Dempsey, Tim Russell, Justin Drawdy and Brian Finney. Currently Tim Russell is the Sunoco Sunbelt Super Late Model Series points leader followed by Brian Finney, Chad Pierce, Jeff Scofield, and Corey Freed. All these racers and many more will be found Saturday at Lakeland.
Along with the Michael Holley Chevrolet 200 will be the new FASCAR Extreme Modified Series. These guys are fast and tough and have missed racing at one of their favorite trackis - USA International. The Extreme Modifieds will race a 75 lap feature.
A number of modifieds are expected including point leader Robbie Cooper who has had one outstanding year thus far. Cooper has been on a winning streak and he is hoping that it will continue at Lakeland. Cooper also leads the Gulf Coast Modified Series in points.
Jason Garver, the 2005 and 2006 Open Wheel Modified Champion at Columbia Motorsports Park, runs second in the Extreme Modified division. Garver, who is really a low budget racer, has never raced at USA and is in for a real treat on Saturday. Garver recently won a 50 lap Modified race at Orlando SpeedWorld.
Rounding out the top five in points for the Extreme Modified Series is Alan McCafferty, Kurt Jett and Lee Collins. Jett also races in the Sunbelt Series and could be doing double duty this weekend.
