Earl Pearson Jr. and Bobby Labonte Racing Finish 8th at Show-Me 100, Heads to Lucas Oil Series Event This Weekend | ARCHDALE, NC (May 29, 2007)- 2006 World 100 champion Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team looked to add another crown jewel event to their resume competing in the "Show-Me 100" at West Plains Speedway in West Plains, MO over the weekend. The unsanctioned event paid $41,000 to the winner and is a trophy that any dirt late model driver covets to have in their show case. Earl would start the weekend by qualifying 12th out of the 76 stellar drivers entered in the 15th annual event. Earl would battle fellow Mastersbilt Chassis driver Ray Cook in heat race #6 and Pearson would finish second to Cook earning a 12th starting position for the 100-lap feature.
Earl driving the LifeLong Locks, Larry Wallace powered Dodge would drive to the front early in the event and was running as high as 4th place at one point in the feature. Several close calls with other cars cause slight damage to Earl's car that hindered the handling late in the race. Earl would finish all 100 laps and finished 8th in the final run-down. "We had a pretty good car all weekend and should have finished in the top 5 but that late race caution hurt us as I got shuffled back on the double file restart. But it was still a pretty good weekend for us to get a top ten finish in another crown jewel event in 2007", stated Earl from his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Earl did collect one win over the weekend winning the Manufacturer's Dash on Saturday representing the Mastersbilt Chassis Company.
The Bobby Labonte Racing Team will travel to Florence Kentucky this weekend and compete at Florence Speedway in a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. TheRalph Latham Memorial 50-lap feature event will pay $10,000 to the winner and award series points to the drivers chasing the 2007 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship. Earl is currently 3rd in the series points standing just 140 points out of first place. With two wins on the series already in 2007 Earl is trying to win his third Lucas Oil Series Championship in a row and become the first dirt late model driver ever to win four national touring series championships in a row.
