Southern Sportsman and Florida Mini Stock Challenge take on Bronson Speedway this Weekend | by Rick Warren
If past performance is any indicator, Saturday will be an exciting night of racing at Bronson Motor Speedway. The fast and furious Southern Sportsman Series and the always exciting Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series will be in North Florida for their final appearance at Bronson Motor Speedway of the 2007 season, both for 50 lap features.
The Southern Sportsman Series, with multiple winners this year, bring their own brand of clean, hard nosed racing to the track, while the Mini Stock Challenge Series always seems to step the competition up a notch at Bronson.
After the last race, where Point leaders Steve Gainey and Arthur Conquest both had mechanical failures, Richard Elkins Jr has capitalized and grabbed the lead in the points race. Elkins, who really likes racing on the Bronson “ Bullring”, Has won at this track before and will certainly contend for the win. Ron Heard Jr will also be one to watch, after winning the last race of the series. Gainey and Conquest will be looking to make up lost ground in the points race. Craig Cuzzone and Joey Catarelli have both been very competitive this season, and are due to take a win soon. This will be a humdinger of a short track race, one that you will want to see.
The mini stock challenge series, with Robbie Storer on top of the point standings, should be quite exciting as well. Storer, running a front wheel drive MOPAR product, has shown on previous occasions that his racer is very fast and well suited to the tight confines of Bronson Speedway. Cody Blair has been knocking on Victory’s door at every race this season, and hopes that Bronson will be the location of his first win of the season. Jonathan Camp proved at Ocala that his great runs this season were no fluke by taking home the win, and has plans on extending his winning ways to Bronson.
Both series are loaded with young talent, waiting to break through with the win. Both series also have there share of wiley, experienced veterans with the experience to handle the rigors of Bronson’s demanding racing. You can bet that who ever the winners are this weekend, will have earned it. Don’t miss this race. Florida Short Track Racing at it’s finest!
Hope to see you at the track!
