| Goodyear Challenge and Turner Tree and Landscape Late Models join hands at Desoto Super Speedway May 26 | by Jane Smith
Samsula, Fla. (May 23, 2007) Late Model fans are in for a treat when the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series and the Turner Tree and Landscape Late Models join hands at Desoto Super Speedway this Saturday, May 26, for a combined race. This will be the first time that the Goodyear Challenge Late Models have journeyed to Desoto Super Speedway and everyone is looking forward to Saturday.
A number of the Goodyear Challenge racers know Desoto well since they have run in the Turner Tree and Landscape Series. Those are Doug Moff, Joe Winchell, Justin Larson, Dustin Chisholm, Dewayne Barrus, and Mark Childress. Rich Clouser has been a previous Street Stock Champion at Desoto and has had many nights experience there.
"Combining the races will hopefully make for a full and exciting field," said Goodyear Challenge Series Director Scott Jackman. "We are looking forward to Saturday and seeing a really, really good race."
This will be the sixth race for the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series where Doug Moff leads the points by 39 over Rich Clouser. Moff has two wins under his belt this year - one at New Smyrna Speedway and one at Bronson Motor Speedway. Clouser has no wins yet but plenty of top fives. Both know Desoto and have seen their fair share of wins there.
Joe Winchell stands third in points and also knows Desoto well. Fourth in points is Daniel Keene, Jr., our most recent Godyear winner at Bronson Motor Speedway. Fifth in points is Darren Brown who was the 2006 Late Model Champion at New Smyrna Speedway.
Winning at New Smyrna Speedway in sixth place in points is Justin Larson. Completing the top ten are J.R. McMickel, Drew Brannon, Greg Kaouk, and Sam Watts.
Top ten in points for the Turner Tree and Landscape Series is Jesse Dutilly, Raymond Folwell, Kenneth Vaughn, Lonny Miller, Gus Coorssen, Dewayne Barrus, Dustin Chisholm, Andrew Brannon,, Chris Huntoon, and Tim Grogan.
There will be an open practice on Thrusday, May 24, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Desoto Super Speedway. Tires will be available for the Goodyear Challenge Late Models.
Saturday, May 26, pit gate will open at 2 p.m.
