IMSA Lites Continues For Mishael Abbott

INDIANAPOLIS (May 14, 2007) – Mishael Abbott and the rest of the 2007 IMSA Lites Presented by Hankook competitors head to Utah for the third and fourth rounds after a two month break in the schedule since the season opener in Sebring, FL. She will race her #63 B-K Motorsports prepared Elan DP02 at Miller Motorsports Park next week in the IMSA Lites 1 Championship.

Mishael has never raced at the very demanding Miller Motorsports Park before. She has been spending a significant amount of time watching in-car video from the new track since her last race at Sebring. Mishael has also spent numerous hours talking with her teammate, Gerardo Bonilla, about the intricacies and preferred lines around the 23-turn road track.

Rounds Three and Four of the IMSA Lites 1 Championship (www.imsaracing.net) are set for Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 as support for the American Le Mans Series Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah (approximately 30 minutes west of Salt Lake City).

“Miller Motorsports Park is a new track and one where I have never been which makes it just that much more exciting for me,” said Mishael Abbott. “It is a challenging track but I have spent many hours watching in-car film and talking to my teammate and drivers such as Tomas Enge about the track. I hope this week at Miller (Motorsports Park) will be a turn around for us from Sebring and I can make a strong appearance on the podium.”

Mishael Abbott has teamed with B-K Motorsports and continues her association with Mazda. Her Lites 1 car #63 is powered by a Mazda MP2 2.3 liter engine supplied and sealed by Elan Power Products. Her teammate, Gerardo Bonilla, is coming off two wins at the opening races at Sebring. Both drivers are looking to be on the podium together at Miller Motorsports Park.

“After the success the B-K Motorsports team had at Sebring, I am even more excited about going to Miller Motorsports Park,” said Mishael.

“We learned a bit about the car last weekend at Blackhawk Farms and now we have a more defined direction to go at Miller Motorsports Park,” said Steve Levinsohn, B-K Motorsports Lites Team Manager. “It was good getting Mishael a fair amount of seat time (at Blackhawk Farms). We are looking for some good results in Utah.”

The IMSA Lites Presented by Hankook, began its first season in 2006 and is seeing tremendous growth. Now divided in three class, the Lites 1 class is the top class featuring the carbon fiber composite monocoque Elan DP02, designed and produced by Elan Motorsports Technologies, the group that designed and produced the next generation Champ Car, DP01.

Mishael Abbott is pursuing her formal education at the University of Indianapolis working on a sports management degree.
