Nevin Gainey and Mike Marcellino head to New Smyrna for First FASCAR Pro Truck race of 2007 Season | Nevin Gainey and Mike Marcellino have had plenty of time to prepare for their race this weekend. This Saturday night they will both be racing a 50 lap feature at New Smyrna Speedway, in New Smyrna Beach (FL).This will be the first FASCAR Pro-Truck Series race of the 2007 season.
Gainey, of Fort White, Florida, will be putting the pedal to the metal in his #17 Ford, sponsored by Gainey Towing, Danny’s Transmission, Browns Custom Painting, Fast Lane Graphics and Craig Michael Insurance. Gainey, who is just 23 years old, has already won back to back track championships in the Sportsman division at Columbia Motorsports Park in 2005 and 2006. A little over a month ago, Gainey finished 9th place in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing that took place at New Smyrna Speedway. Gainey remarked, “I am confident in our truck setup for this weekend. We have not been to the track since February, but already the truck is running better.” This weekend he’ll be looking for another solid finish.
Marcellino, of Lake City, Florida, is anxious to start his second race of the season for MJM Racing, Inc. Marcellino is hopeful that he can have another impressive finish with his #14 Dodge sponsored by Lake City Christian Supply, Autohaus of Lake City and Danny’s Transmissions. MJM Racing, Inc. has added some new members to their team and has acquired a spotter for this weekend’s event. Marcellino commented on the changes, “Our goal for this weekend is to try and run with the pack. Getting a top ten would be great, a top five would be wonderful working with a new pit crew and spotter. I am excited to see how the team performs as a whole.” Marcellino raced in his first ever FASCAR Pro-Truck series race last month at New Smyrna Speedway where he started 26th and finished 11th.
The race is this Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach (FL). For information and directions to the track please visit New Smyrna’s website at: www.NewSmyrnaSpeedway.org.
