| Shan Smith and SS Performance Enterprise Team win New Hendry County Opener | Shan Smith and the SS Performance Enterprise team win the New Hendry County Speedway $3000 to win season opener.
Shan and the SS Performance Enterprise team celebrated there first win in a late model running a 2 year old GM 604 crate motor against the regular late models at New Hendry County Speedway in south Florida. SS Performance Enterprise was the only crate motor in the field of late models and they were running without rules concessions for the crate motor!!
Starting 5th in there heat race and finishing 3rd was a pretty good start to the night for Shan and the team. A few adjustments and they were ready for the feature.
Starting 6th when the flag dropped Shan was 3rd when they made it to the back straight away and 3 laps later took the lead and NEVER looked back, opening up a 1/2 track lead at one point when a caution would re group the field. At the drop of the green on the restarts was about as close as anyone got to the SS Performance Enterprise TNT chassis crate motor late model. With the last caution causing a 1 lap dash Shan crossed the finish line 4 car lengths ahead of 2nd place.
This season is starting as a good one with 7 races so far and one 11th place finish being the only one outside of the top 10 and only 4 of the races against only crate motor late models.
