East Bay Raceway Park opens Winternationals this Week | Tampa, FL….1/23/07…..The 9th Annual “King of 360’s” Sprint car series will kick off the 31st Annual Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park with a popular three-day event this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
Drivers from 15 states plus Canada will invade the 1/3 mile clay oval in hopes of capturing the $10,000 prize money and having the honor of wearing the crown after Saturday night’s 40-lap feature.
There has never been a repeat “King” to date, but five previous winners are pre-entered with ideas of changing that statistic. They include last year’s winner Terry McCarl from Altoona, Iowa, the first winner Gary Wright from Hooks, Texas. Jason Sides out of Bartlett, Tennessee (winner in ’02) and the only local to win, Sport Allen from Pinellas Park, Florida (winner in ’03).
For the second year in a row, the race will be sanctioned by the O’Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour and each night will be a complete show of heat races, last chance races, qualifying races, two B-Mains and an A-Main.
Saturday night’s winner of the 40-lapper will be 1/3 of the way to collecting the Fast Lane Challenge Bonus of $75,000. It will be paid to any pre-entered driver who wins all three Sprint car finals – 360, non-wing and 410.
Race time is 7:00PM with the main grandstand opening around 5:00PM. Tickets are on sale all day starting at 9:00AM. For questions call Toll Free 1-877-457-5611 or 813-677-7223. East Bay is located at exit 250 on I-75 then West on Gibsonton Drive, then North on ST 41 to signs and Old Route 41.
