Eagle Buick/GMC Invite for Legends set for Citrus County Speedway | by Dave Westerman...
The Legends Cars will make their third appearance of the year Saturday night at Citrus County Speedway in a special Invitational event sponsored by Eagle Buick/GMC Truck of Homosassa.
The Eagle Buick Invitational is a non-points event open to Florida-based drivers only who have competed in weekly races at Orlando Speedworld and in the Florida PBG Legends Tour events.
The race has been put together by long-time Legends Car competitor Robert "Wild Willie" Wilson of Wilson Pools & Spas out of Beverly Hills, FL and is being sponsored by Eagle Buick/GMC Truck which is located at 1275 S. Suncoast Blvd. in Homosassa, two miles south of the Crystal River Airport on the east side of Highway 19.
There will be separate payouts for each of the three Legends Car divisions, Semi-Pro, Pro, and Masters. Based on 26 cars entered and a minimum of five cars per division, the winner of each class could take home $250. There is no entry fee. With all cars on the track at once, there will actually be three races within the race which is scheduled for 35 laps. Qualifying for the Legends will take place at 5PM Saturday.
Young Apopka hot-shot Kory Abbott swept the PBG Tour Events at Citrus this year and will be the favorite going into the event this week. He'll have several challengers in the including Brandon Thomson who is coming off a solid fifth place showing in the Legends Car Nationals Pro Division A-Main at Lanier Speedway in GA just two weeks ago.
2006 Lowe's Motor Speedway Summer Shootout Semi-Pro Champion Matt Bowers of Mount Dora will be on hand along with current PBG, and Florida State Masters Division point leader Andy Logan of West Palm Beach.
It's also hoped that Bryan Silas of Stuart, who is coming off back-to-back ARCA starts for Andy Hillenburg Racing at Talladega and Iowa, will return to his Legends Car "roots" for the Eagle Invitational in his PBG-sponsored machine.
