PBG Legends Tour to Run Round Six Saturday at Citrus County Speedway | by Dave Westerman
Citrus County Speedway in Inverness will play host to round number six of the 2006 PBG Florida Legends Car Tour Saturday night.
Four different drivers have shared victory lane in the first five races of the tour with St. Cloud's Brandon Thomson the only two-time winner taking both events held so far this year at Orlando Speedworld. Thomson won the season-opening race at OSW in March and that was followed by Chelsea Schillig's exciting win at Bronson Motor Speedway in April, he very first Legends Car win.
Defending PBG Champion and current point leader Kory Abbott took the win when the tour first visited Citrus County Speedway later during the month of April while Legends Car veteran Andy Logan took a wild last-lap win in May at Desoto Super Speedway. Thomson turned the trick a second time at Speedworld just last month.
Abbott leads the current point standings by a comfortable 21 markers over Schillig while Thomson is just two points in back of the young lady driver. Logan is fourth in points, just two behind Thomson and six ahead of fifth place Stuart Dutton. Abbott is the Pro Division point leader as well while Schillig leads the Semi-Pro Division and Logan heads up the 40-and-over Masters Division points.
Rounding out the current top ten in points are Matt Bowers, Chris McDonald, Mike Verhaagh, Mike "The Enforcer" Fazio, and Bryan Silas. The PBG Tour will be part of a great program set for Saturday night that also includes a 50 lap Hobby Stock race, Super Late Models, Mini Stocks, Limited Sportsman, Four Cylinder Bombers and Figure-8 Cars. Qualifying for the PBG Tour cars is set for 5PM with racing beginning at 5:30PM.
