Powers tops Twin 40's at Ocala | C.A.R.S. Motorsports & Racer Marketing Orlando FL - 7-25-06 - Ocala Speedway hosted the Fast Motorports Extravaganza Saturday night, and the fans would see some great action. Fastruck decided to try twin features for each of its three divisions as a salute to the fans. The Fastruck Pro division would be running twin 40's. The teams qualified for the first 40 and did the regular 0,4,6,8,10 inversion with the last events winner and second place trucks starting 11th & 12th. Powers would qualify third , but the invert would put him 5th on the start. Powers used some patients and some great moves to work his way to the second spot before the checkered flew for the first 40 lap segment. Travis Rowland would win twin #1. Powers and his team made a couple of minor changes before the second 40 lap event. The winner drew a ten so that would mean Powers would start in the 9th position. Powers quickly began picking them off as he made a run to the front. Levi Hobbs would get clear of the second place truck first and that would be the deciding factor as he got away when the #94 truck held up the pack. Powers finally had to use a little chrome horn to get around the 94 truck, just after the pass the 94 veered left and caused a wreck on the front stretch that caught up Rowland and others. After the cleanup Powers did not press the issue with Hobbs as he knew that finish would garner him the overall first place as the two races where combined by points to make the finish. Powers would get his first win of the 2006 season and first at the Ocala Speedway. " We always unload good here, I love this place. Thanks to Mike Peters, Angie Clifton and Lou Trembley for running a great place to race. Thanks to my team for the hard work, thanks to my wife Tammy for all she does to make the race day better. Thanks to my sponsors Cairo Lane Used Auto Parts, Dupont, Finishline signs and graphics, and J.Y.D./Worth Softball. A special thanks to my partner Ozmel Diaz and his family for there support. This is great ! stated Powers. After a slow up and down start to the 06 season, Powers and his team are putting together some very solid finishes. Powers now takes over second in the points just 58 behind leader Travis Rowland. The team will now prepare for some tough tracks that can make or brake a season. The team heads next to Citrus County Speedway on August 5th. " Citrus has been a place I have struggled but my crew chief Rick Bristol told me I need to go in with a positive attitude and so we will, I am determined to have a solid top 5 finish there" added Powers. Powers also became the first entry for the December 8th & 9th Hopkins Family Truckers 200 at Orlando, a charity race to benefit a 9 year old boy fighting for his life and his family for medical bills. " I am excited about that event, first that we can help that family but second, we ran real well there earlier this year. We qualified second fast our first time there. Rick is putting together a neat deal, we just want to be a part of it. He has our support" said Powers. Have an opinion on
