Foster hopes Second Time is the Charm at Kentucky | NOTE RYAN FOSTER RAN THE SUNBELT SUPER LATE MODEL SERIES IN THE NO. 10 SUPER LATE
SPARTA KY (7-6-06)--Ever since the ARCA RE/MAX Series visited the Kentucky Speedway earlier this season, Ryan Foster has been anxiously awaiting the second trip to the 1.5-mile speedway.
Foster earned his career-best finish at Kentucky earlier this season in only his fourth career ARCA RE/MAX Series start and first at Kentucky Speedway. With a fifth place finish only a few weeks ago, Foster hopes to improve upon that finish, maybe all the way to his first career ARCA RE/MAX Series victory.
“This is probably the race I have been looking forward to the most ever since the last time we were here,” said Foster. “We were so strong when we raced here in the spring and I know that the experience of racing here already along with racing at some of these other tracks will only make me stronger the second time around. I really wish we were able to take ‘Betty Lou’ back to Kentucky, but with the body damage from Kansas she will have to take the week off to get some repairs made before Pocono. But we have spent a lot of time testing at Kentucky and I think we will be really strong when we hit the track on Friday.”
Foster has had several impressive runs at various race tracks this season in only eight starts including two fifth place finishes at both the Kentucky Speedway at the Toledo Speedway. Foster takes confidence to Kentucky by not only knowing his way around the race track, but also knowing that this past weekend in Kansas Speedway he was taken out of contention while battling for the lead. Foster was a factor in the event from the beginning of the practice sessions when he ran the sixth fastest time the first time he took to the race track.
“We had a really good car at Kansas,” said Foster. “But we have had a great car every weekend. I continue to learn from Frank (Kimmel) everywhere we go and as part of that learning, I have seen him go to victory lane twice. I would like to use that knowledge and make my way to victory lane now that we are heading back to some of these race tracks for the second time this season.”
Following last weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway, Foster sits sixth in ARCA RE/MAX Series points, 45 points away from fifth position. Foster is also third in ARCA Rookie of the Year points. The WLWT Channel-5 150 will take the green flag at 9:00pm ET and be televised live on SPEED.
