Three Florida Drivers in Top Three in Semi-Pros at Summer Shootout | THREE FLORIDA DRIVERS IN TOP THREE IN SEMI-PROS AT SUMMER SHOOTOUT Week two of the 2006 Summer Shootout at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte, NC is in the books and Florida drivers again had a decent week.
One-fifth of the A-Main starters for the Legends Semi-Pro class were from the Sunshine State and for the second straight week, Odessa's Paddy Rodenbeck was the top finisher among the Florida youngsters taking third place behind New Jersey's Tommy Hartensveld, Jr. and Jake "The Snake" Crum of North Carolina, two drivers who competed in February's Speedworld Winternationals.
Mount Dora's Matt Bowers had another good week finishing a strong third with Josh Williams of Port Charlotte sixth, Kara Clarke of Palm Beach Gardens 15th and Lake Worth's Bryan Silas 18th. Clarke would also compete in the Bandelero Outlaws and score an eighth place finish.
Brandon Thomson was the only Legends Pro Division driver in the A-Main on Tuesday night. Thomson was running a strong fourth when he was spun out on the final lap by Chrissy Wallace. Thomson managed to gather his machine and come home a disappointing 17th.
Port St. Lucie's Ryan Rust got a big monkey off his back, finally keeping the mechanical gremlins away to take a nice ninth place finish in the Bandeleo Young Guns while Maxx Bennett of Zephyrhills continued to be impressive taking fourth place in the Bandelero Bandits A-Main.
Summer Shootout action continues next Tuesday, June 27th. The following week, two "weeks" of the Shootout will be run on back-to-back nights, July 2nd and 3rd.
