Robert Campbell of Dunedin, FL returns to Desoto Super Speedway after ending the season early last year. The Campbell’s were at the track with the #10 “Half Ass” Outlaw sporting a new Esslinger aluminum “D” port head for the pre-season practice day on Feb. 11. Several Outlaws have placed orders for the recently approved Esslinger “D” port head. This head is only allowed on low compression engines and limits a car’s left side weight to a max of 58%. Welcome back Robert!
Tom Giddings #83 and Zack Rudd #2 both of Ft. Myers, FL made the pre-season practice. Tom is new to the Outlaws this season racing a well known car to the series formerly known as the #8 & #27 driven by Randy Sands and Scot Findlay respectively. Tom proved to be no Rookie to racing Saturday wheeling the #83 around the fastest short track in Florida.
Zack Rudd returned after racing with the Outlaws on a limited schedule in 2005. Zack has plans to runs the full race season this year and is looking forward to the first race along with his Dad and crew chief Steve “Butch” Rudd. Tom and Zack share more than a hometown both have a history in kart racing.
Reigning Outlaw Champion Raymond “Superfrog” Jones #41 and Ric Mills #22 both brought their Dave Osteen built Outlaws to Desoto for the pre-season test and tune. The Arcadia Outlaws hoping to ward off any gremlins that may be left over from the 2005 season closer. “Superfrog” the 2003 Champion nearly had his second championship in 2004 when a broken axle the last race of the season dashed hopes until 2005.
At the season closer for 2005 the gremlins were back “Superfrog” after starting the final race blew his engine on the Toyota powered #41, this time after leading the point for most of the season he prevailed as our 2005 Champion. Ric Mills with experience in Drag racing, kart racing and Outlaw Modified Racing made the pre-season practice in a Ford powered Outlaw. Ric like many of us has had his share of gremlins in the past. Best of luck in 2006 to our Outlaws from Arcadia, FL. Have an opinion on
