Alli Owens Racing
Florida racer Alli Owens may not be in the starting grid for the Daytona 500 race this month but she'll get a taste of what it's like to drive around the 2.5 mile super speedway. Owens was invited by NASCAR in conjunction with RAD (Race Against Drugs) to participate in the pre-race ceremonies before the Daytona 500. She'll be allowed to drive her late model racecar around the track during the parade laps.
"This is a track that I have dreamed about racing at since I was a little girl" said Alli. "What a thrill it will be to drive my own racecar there".
Owens also appears in this weeks NASCAR Scene magazine along with Erin Crocker and other up and coming female racers that have attended Lyn St. James Driver Development program and Women in the Winners Circle luncheon. On January 31st Alli spent the afternoon with Lyn and FinishLine Racing School at New Smyrna Speedway while a class was going on.
Alli and her team were also given VIP passes from ARCA representatives to watch the ARCA race and tour the garage area at DIS. She's very excited about meeting the teams and learning what goes on behind the scenes.
As if all the activities at the speedway wasn't enough, she will also be a guest on Marc Bernier's radio show Friday Feb 3rd 3pm-7pm and then she will be on Nat Chat Live radio talk show for kids on Saturday Feb 4th 10am-11am along with a couple of other kids she grew up racing with.
After the excitement of the next couple of weeks dies down, it's back to work for Alli, getting her racecar ready for the start of the new season on March 17, 2006. Owens will be racing in the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series.
