Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports and Ear Pearson Jr. prepare for 2006 Speedweeks and Defending the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship | Dunn, NC (January 5, 2006)- Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team owners Carlton and Kemp Lamm are eagerly preparing for the 2006 speedweeks and are looking forward to defending the 2005 Lucas Oil Late Model Series Championship. After winning back to back National Championships in 2004 and 2005, Carlton and Kemp have expanded their business with a new motorsports parts and chassis dealership business, Dunn-Benson Racing Supply. With the new venture a few changes have been made within the team and a new crew chief has been hired to replace Frankie Averitt who will now manage and run the parts business on a daily basis. Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports will use MasterSbuilt Chassis’s powered by Larry Wallace Engines fueled by Sunoco Race Fuels again in 2006 in hopes of winning a third National Championship. Lucas Oil will again be the primary sponsor of the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team in 2006.
One thing that has not changed within Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports is the driver. Earl Pearson Jr. will again be teamed up with Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports for their sixth consecutive year together in 2006. “We couldn’t ask for any better person to drive our cars than Earl. He is quiet and doesn’t show much emotion but when he gets behind that wheel he is a fierce competitor and exciting to watch him drive these 800 horsepowered super late models. Our sponsors are very pleased with Earl and how he represents himself, the team and how he is always available for appearances and promotional stuff for them. He represents what Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports is about and that is relationships and professionalism. We feel we have the best driver in the country and we enjoy our relationship we have with Earl and his entire family,” stated Carlton Lamm.
In 2006 Earl and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team will have a new crew chief wrenching on the MasterSbuilt Chassis’s. Dunn-Benson Ford Motosports has hired Jason Fitzgerald to be the crew chief in 2006. Jason,30 years old, comes with an experienced background in motorsports. Jason was formerly the operations manager at Southeast Motorsports in Callahan Florida where he managed a parts business and helped design the Shark open wheel modified chassis that has had tremendous success in the South Georgia and North Florida area in 2005. Jason also has driven and won numerous races in super late models and modifieds in the southeast for over 12 years winning the super late model track championship in 2003 at Putnam County Speedway in Palatka Florida.
Jason has been driving a MasterSbuilt Chassis’s for the past two years in the Carolina Clash, Southern All-Stars and numerous super late model races in the southeast and was a crew member on the Marvin Harris Racing Team in 1998 when Earl Pearson Jr. drove for Marvin Harris Racing. “I’m excited about coming to Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports and getting an opportunity to work for great people like the Lamms. Living in Jacksonville I’ve known Earl and raced against him for a long time when he was racing locally. Earl and I have been good friends for awhile and talk often over the past several years so our chemistry will be good together,” stated Jason.
Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports and Earl Pearson Jr. will start the season at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA for four nights of racing February 1-4th. Friday February 3rd will be the season opener for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series as Earl defends his title as champion in 2006.
