"Winter Heat II" Allows Fast Tune-up for March Season Opener | by Bill Green, "From Behind The MIC!", FMG Announcer
Tampa, FL (January 8th, 2005) Fast Media Group teams have begun their winter ritual tune ups and you're invited to see the second "WINTER HEAT II" Championship run at Charlotte County Speedway in southwestern Florida. On January 15th and February 25th FMG Teams will battle over these two nights of racing, resulting in a Winter Heat Champion for both the Fast Kids 12 to 16-year-old program and the FasTruck Pros seniors division. In 2004 Matt Martin made his debut in truck racing by winning the first Winter Heat I Fast Kids contest, while David Pollen became Winter Heat I Pro Champion.
Charlotte County Speedway Late Model fans will also enjoy the $5000 to win, Brian Davidson Memorial 150 on Sunday, January 15th to kick-off another great season at southern Florida's premier short track. Charlotte's regular points racing program will actually begin on the February 25th event weekend, while the entire Fast Media Group Motorsports Extravaganza debuts on March 11th. A FMG practice will be held at CCS on Saturday, January 14th from Noon until dark, giving many teams their first opportunity to test their 2006 equipment.
This 2006 seasons Fast Media Group Motorsports Extravaganza will include the original members of the FasTruck Pro Series, that by the way, includes several very competitive seniors that raced with the old American Race Trucks and Southern Pro-Truck organizations. Along with the Pros, fans will see the exciting 12 to 16 year old armature Fast Kids division and the newly formed Fast Late Models. Top those exciting divisions with the debut of the fan interactive Fast Drifters Formula DSL program and you have an entire evening of Motorsports programming with something for the whole family.
The 2006 season also holds impressive numbers of pre-registered Fast Media Group members.
The Fast Drifters Formula DSL program made their debut at Charlotte County Speedway in October of 2005. As the numbers grow daily, it appears that 16 plus, die-hard drifting teams will do battle in 2006 for the first ever Fast Drifting Formula DSL Championship. Meanwhile, the up start Fast Late Model series has gotten a big lift, to 45 plus teams as of today, from several well known Florida Late Model drivers. Florida legends like “Big Daddy” Dave Pletcher and Wayne Anderson, plus consistent winners like Randy Fox and Joe Boyd are joining the 2006 FMG LM Championship run. FasTruck Pros will return to action with some 65 teams on the roster. That will call for a last chance qualifier or two and put more weight on qualifying itself. The fast growing, Fast Kids division is bulging with 34 teams signed up and ready for 2006.
A few official positions will be changing for 2006, as Troy Snipes joins the FMG family becoming the race director for Fast Kids and FasTruck programs. Tom’s background in NASCAR safety and rules compliance will be a welcome addition that will help improve the flow of the shows and consistency of race action calls. Tech Inspector Carl Green will step back from his duties in 2006 to concentrate on his daughter’s racing. Joe Calhan has resigned as race director for FMG LM’s to take a position at East Bay Raceway Park. So with several key positions yet to be filled, FMG will be working quickly to fill them in preparations for 2006.
