Mike Powers grabs big win at Auburndale in FASTRUCK finale | C.A.R.S. Motorsports & Racer Marketing Orlando FL. 12-10-05 - First year truck competitor Mike Powers finally shook the bad luck and grabbed his first career FASTRUCK win. Saturday, at the little bullring of Auburndale Motor Speedway Powers finally put it all together for an impressive green to checkered win. Powers would trip the clocks at 14.913 seconds good enough for fourth. The fast qualifier pulled a five placing Powers on the outside front row for the start of the 50 Lap grind. " I knew we had a good truck but, was a little worried about starting outside here at Auburndale. My crewchief Rick Bristol and I talked about the start and that we just needed a good solid start and a run into turn one. I was barely clear when we hit turn one but Rick, also spotting for me, said clear so I put it in there and it worked. Thanks to Gary Foxworth for racing me clean there" stated Powers. Powers would lead all 50 laps, as Foxworth would try several moves but could not get it done. On lap 39 Foxworth got into the left rear and turned Powers going into turn three. Officials placed Powers back in first with Foxworth restarted at tail end. Powers would open up a lead over now second place driver George Morales as he had his hands full of Brandon Johnson. It looked all set until, after coming to the white, the caution came out setting up a green, white , checkered finish. " We really did not need that one, we had a good lead and Rick was saying just hit your marks. I could not believe it when he said caution. We then made a good start and was able to hold on as Morales and Johnson went at behind me. This was a great night, it made that old bad luck stuff go away. Powers would lead the final two laps to grab the win and a popular one it was in front of the crowd, as they cheered wildly for the winner. Powers would also take fifth in the final points standings in his first full year in the FASTRUCK series. " I really have to thank some great folks for this year. First to our sponsors Cairo Lane Used Auto Parts, Finishline Graphics, JYD-Worth Softball, Dupont, Wheels America and Bel-Air Automotive, without whom we could not be here. Thanks to my good friend and owner Osmel Diaz and Family for the opportunity to drive and become so involved in the development and decisions. This really was a great year and we look forward to a continued relationship in 2006. " I want to thank my crew Osmel, Chris, Ruben for all there hard work and support this year. They traveled and worked long hours to help me and that I appreciate so much. Also, thanks to Rick Bristol who came on board mid year to help us to become better each week and get to victory lane. Most of all a big thanks to my wife and best friend for putting up with the long nights at the shop and long days at the tracks. She took care of all of us with food and kept us ready to go. Special thanks to the fans, drivers, crews and officials for a good season. "I also want to congratulate Sean Bass and Spencer Taylor on winning the championships and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to a better year in 2006" exclaimed Powers. The #05 Chevrolet race team had a great season with 20 starts 1 win, 10 Top five's and 6 top ten finishes. They will be a factor in 2006 in every race they enter. Have an opinion on
