Team Cheetah has tough night at Hialeah | C.A.R.S. Motorsports & Racer Marketing Saturday March 19th - The team Cheetah race team did not get the kind of results they expected at Hialeah Saturday night. Joey Morales driving the #96 Jr. Chevrolet clocked in second quick in time trials and would start outside the front row for the 25 lap FASTKIDS event. Spencer Taylor grabbed the lead but Morales worked hard lap after lap trying to get by. He had David Wilson all over his back bumper as well. As the laps wound down Morales tried to get the leader loose off turn two, as they raced down the back stretch the two hooked for a moment and then as they came apart Morales spun to the infield. After restarting at the rear he would work back to a fifth place finish at the checkers. " I am disappointed I felt that Spencer should have given me more room, he kind of drove us down the track. I felt we had a good shot at winning. I want to thank dad and the Diaz family for allowing me to race, we will get them next time" stated Joey. The night looked better for father George Morales in the 75 lap FASTRUCK main event. he would take the Fast Qualifier award with a new track record time for FASTRUCKS. He then drew the eight pill for the inversion. Morales used patients to work his way to the second spot late in the event. Just after a late restart Morales made his move on the start and got to the inside of leader Tommy King. They battled side by side for nearly two laps then coming off turn four Morales spun to the inside of the track and it would cost him a chance at the win and he would end up finishing 14th as he lost a lap. " I am pretty upset, I feel that I was hit by Sean Bass and that cost us a chance at a win. Unfortunately the officials did not see it and so I am 14th and he was second. I will get over it once I calm down but right now I am not happy" stated Morales. " We feel the officials just missed that one, it was hard racing and I know it was tough to see, but it hurt us in the race. We know the officials are doing the best job they can and they can't get them all right, so we will go on and get ready for the next race. We thank the crew for their hard work and our sponsors Express Tire & Service and 11th Ave Auto & Truck Recyclers for their continued support" added Arnold & Damaris Diaz. The next event is set for April 9th at the Charlotte County Speedway. Morales is 7th in the points just 44 points out of first. Have an opinion on this story?
