King takes FASTRUCK, Taylor grabs FASTKIDS win at Hialeah | C.A.R.S. Motorsports & Racer Marketing Saturday, March 19th - Hialeah Speedway - Young Spencer Taylor lead wire to wire to grab his first FASTKIDS win in 2005. Tommy King would find his way to the point and take the FASTRUCK 75 Lap event at the famed no-banks of Hialeah Speedway. The FASTKIDS would be up first to qualify and it would be David Wilson once again clocking in with fast time over the 10 entries. Joey Morales would clock in second and Spencer Taylor third. Wilson then drew the 3 for inversion and that gave Taylor the pole for the 25 Lap main event.
Taylor grabbed the lead and never relinquished it. A close call late in the event saw Joey Morales bump him off turn two and try to get under but Spencer used the track up, they hooked for a moment then Morales spun into the infield. Taylor would then hold off the charges of Brian Blum who came from the back after an early race incident to grab second. Joe Coulter who had to pit early in the race came back to take third ahead of Levi Hobbs and Joey Morales who rounded out the top five. Apparent second place finisher and fast qualifier David Wilson was DQ'd for an illegal transmission. Twenty-four tough FASTRUCKS came to battle at Hialeah. It would be home town favorite George Morales taking the Severn Trent Fast Qualifier award. Local Jake Reedy was second and Tommy King was third fast. The inversion pill was drawn by Morales and he would have to start seventh, putting Tom North for the second race in a row on the pole. At the drop of the green for the 75 lap affair it would be North leading for many of the opening laps before Tim Shaffner would get by. Shaffner would lead till later in the event when he spun in turn two. That would hand the lead to Tommy King who would hold off a couple late charges including a late restart that saw George Morales, who had made it up to second from the seventh place start, get to the inside and the two would battle side by side. Coming off turn four Morales spun while challenging on the inside for the lead, King would go on to score the win. Sean Bass held second over Tom North. Mike Powers, racing with a bad case of the flu, started ninth and finished fourth just ahead of George Gorham Jr. who nabbed fifth. Tony Barreca, Gary Foxworth, Mike Famigliette, Ricky Moxley and Tim Shaffner rounded out the top ten.
The FASTKIDS points after three events shows Spencer Taylor as the points leader over Levis Hobbs who is eight points behind in second. Andy Megronigle, Micheal Cenzi and David Wilson round out the top five. The FASTRUCK points has Sean Bass in the lead by just a single point over Gary Foxworth in second. George Gorham, Tim Shaffner and Al Neumann round out the top five. Danny Anderson, George Morales, Tommy King, Billy Barstow and Todd Blevins hold sixth through tenth. Only sixty-two points separate the top ten. The next events for both will be a return to the Charlotte County Speedway on April 9th and then an April 23rd stop a the Citrus County Speedway.
