RC Roper Among Top Finishers in 2004 Valvoline Cup National Point Standings

Lexington, Ky. - The Valvoline Company has announced the winners of the 2004 Valvoline Cup national points championship presented by Campbell Hausfeld.

Over 700 of the more than 84,000 competing drivers will be receiving awards for their season long accomplishments, with the awards going as far as thirtieth place in each class.

RC Roper from Fort Myers, FL. finished 14th nationally in the Sprint Car class.

The 2004 Valvoline Cup, embraces all forms of motorsports competition among its 31 classes. In order to compete, drivers simply registered at their local track for the program and then submitted their racing results after each racing event they competed in thoroughout the season. At the end of the racing season, each driver has been awarded points based on the best 15 event finishes. Roper earned 1 victory and a third place points finish in USA Sprints along with top finishes competing for FSCA, Cajun Sprints and the Southern Outlaws at various Race Tracks across the Southeast and in Florida.
Roper's Team consisted of Crew Chief- Scott Steffe,Car Chief- Bob Thompson,Mechanics-Don Lang,Son Willy Lang and Gary Brown. The 2005 Season is dedicated to Don Lang who passed away recently.Don's expertise was a Valvoline Cup Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in Racing Mechanics. Don has helped many successful racers like RC Roper, Randy Fox, Doug Moff, Jim Meiser and many others find Victory Lane during his 30 year motorsports carreer. Don will be missed by his wife Katie and sons Willy and Don Jr along with all the motorsports community that knew and loved him.

This will mark the third year in a row that Roper has finished in the top 20 and will share in a prize pool of over $500,000, which includes a combination of cash, Campbell Hausfeld equipment, Valvoline Racing products support package, product rebates, Campbell Hausfeld and Valvoline branded merchandise, Valvoline apparel and trophies. Roper credits Sponsors like Keels & Wheels Magazine, Colley Racing Equipment, Sticks Pest Control, West Coast Powder Coating, Jacks Economy Auto Painting, Al Vojir Jr. Racing Engines, QA1 Shocks, Ringers Racewear,Advanced Machine Repair,Tropic Trailer and Amsoil Technilube Products.

The Valvoline Cup Cup is only the latest example of Valvoline's support of grassroots racers. Valvoline is a contingency sponsor in NHRA drag racing and for the past six years has been the No. 1 choice of motor oil by NHRA sportsmen-class racers at NHRA pro events. For the past 17 years, Valvoline has sponsored the national championships for the Sports Car Club of America, the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs.
Roper is again planning on Running the entire USA Sprints Southern Thunder Tour schedule and will comptete on both Dirt and Pavement using Dirt Cars exclusively and will be racing mostly around the State of Florida. Roper will compete for the Florida Triple Crown Title which will be given to the points winner for a 3 race match series with the FSCA Sprints. In addition there will be a State Championship race in October at Putnam County Speedway.
