New Smyrna Speedway returns to racing action Jan. 8 with Riverfest 300

Samsula, Fla. (January 3, 2005) Happy New Year to all racefans and drivers. This weekend New Smyrna Speedway will return to action with the River Fest 300, formerly the Red Eye 100. This will be the first taste of speed for 2005 where drivers will be testing out their new rides for the year. A large number of Super Late Model drivers are expected this Saturday as they get ready for SpeedFest 2005 at USA International in Lakeland.

Also on the program for this Saturday will be the Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock, and Strictly Stocks plus the brand new FASCAR Pro Trucks and Quick Kids. The Pro Trucks and Quick Kids will go for 25 laps of action for their first outing in 2005 at New Smyrna.

Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. with qualifying for the River Fest 300 at 6 p.m. A new policy for the pits at all FASCAR tracks will go into effect this Saturday. Children, except those that cannot walk and have to be held, will pay full price to get into the pits. This policy has become necessary due to the number of children in the pits unsupervised.

Grandstands will still have children 11 and under free and will open at 6 p.m. on the 8th. Racing action will begin at 7:30 p.m.
