News about Jr. Hanley for all those Florida Hanley Fans

Hanley leads the Lefthander Challenge after five Sunoco Super Series events

SALEM, Ind. -- Veteran Sunoco Super Series driver Junior Hanley has taken over the lead in the Lefthander Challenge, sponsored by Lefthander Chassis, after five series point’s events so far this season. Hanley, who has admittedly struggled in qualifying this season, has been the Lane Automotive/ISKY Racing Cams Hardcharger on three occasions in the first five series events, including this past Saturday’s event at Illiana Motor Speedway were Hanley advanced 15 positions to finish 7th after starting 22nd by way of winning one of the 15 lap Last Chance events.

The Lefthander Challenge awards a Bare Offset Lefthander Chassis to the Sunoco Super Series driver who is in the top fifteen in final series Owner Points that advanced the most positions in series point events during the 2004 season. So far Hanley has advanced 31 positions this season. Jeff Lane and Rick Turner are tied for second, they have both advanced 27 positions. Eddie Van Meter is in fourth with 26 advanced positions followed by BackStretch Performance/Reed Cams/Blake Carburetion Rookie Of The Year point’s leader Frank Kreyer in fifth with 14 advanced positions.

Prior winners of the Lefthander Challenge include two-time Sunoco Super Series Champion Brian Ross, a two-time award winner also in 1998 and 1999. 2000 Series Champion and 2000 Rookie Of The Year Scott Hantz in 2000. Jim Crabtree Jr. won the award winner in 2001. Tim Phillips, runner up for the Rookie Of the Year honors in 2002, won the award in 2002. In 2003, Mt. Morris, Michigan’s Bobby Murany won the award driving for veteran Michigan car owner Brian Robertson.

Eddie Hoffman won last Saturday’s 3rd Annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 Presented By Lisa Thomas Salons Sunoco Super Series event at Illiana Motor Speedway using a Lefthander Chassis.
