FASTRUCKS and FASTKIDS return June 26th, Double Points on the line for all FASCAR Divisions | by Jane Smith Samsula, Fla. (June 22, 2004) After the rainout last weekend at New Smyrna Speedway, the FASTRUCKS and FASTKIDS will return once again this Saturday night, June 26th, to try again for their 50 lap and 25 lap features. Thirty two FASTRUCKS made it to New Smyrna last Saturday and were about to qualify when the bottom dropped out of the sky. The rain stopped, the track was dried, trucks were going to start by points and not qualifying times when the bottom dropped out once again. This time it was hopeless and the races were called. Tommy King and George Morales are tied for the FASTRUCK points lead at 540 points each. This race should give one or the other the definite point lead. Jeff Firestine stands third with James Wright III in fourth and Tim Shaffner in fifth. Marty Zehr, Sean Bass, Jimmy Gill, David Pollen Jr., and Brandon Andersen round out the top ten. Matt Martin leads the FASTKIDS with 494 points with Dalton Zehr in second and only 6 points behind Martin. Spencer Taylor sits third followed by Cody Pitts and Amanda Gogel. Josh Crenshaw, Joey Morales, Sam Watts, Tyler Kelley and Mitchell Webb round out the top ten. Super Late Models, Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stocks are also on the program with "double" points on the line Saturday night. David Rogers leads the Super Late Models points over Eric Black, B.J. McLeod, Guy Thomas and Brent Hobbs. Dick Anderson, Rick Bates, Wayne McCall, Dick Ruckh, and Bruce Lawrence complete the top ten. Mark Smith leads the Late Model points over Josh Schmidt, Troy Atkins, Don Hess and Randy Dye. With double points on the line, Hess and Atkins are tied with 240 points each in third and fourth, this could break the tie for them. Chad Pierce, David Pletka, Charlie Merz, Dawayne Barrus, and Ernest Worley round out the top ten. Bobby Blake holds a fairly big lead over Matt Wheeler in the Open Wheel Modified division. Blake has 312 points with Wheeler standing at 224. Ed Kuhel comes in third followed by Chad Pierce in fourth and Mark Vandevender in fifth. Brad May, Jim Flynn, Dave Savicki, Glen Bradley and Tank Tucker round out the top ten. Donny Williams returned from his two weeks off last weekend "ready to race". But Mother Nature had different plans. Williams leads the points in the Sportsman division with 416 points which is a 136 point lead over second place Chris Peludat. Ken Lewton stands third with 216 points followed closely by Paul Hudson in fourth with 212 points. Dale Clouser completes the top five. Cory Kaiser, Bruce McGonigal, Earl Beckner, John Nusbaum, and KJoe Gerard round out the top ten. Ron Whaley leads the Super Stock division with Jeff Colburn in second. Josh Wronkowski sits third followed by Barry Parks and Charlie Collins. Jack Lenzen comes in sixth followed by James Adams, Stephen Dembinsky, Chuck Smith and Mike Soukup. Brian Bellaw leads the Mini Stock division with 392 points followed by 2003 Champion Ted "Mr Mini Stock" Vulpius with 344 points. Chad Carpenter comes in third with 324 points followed by Alli Owens in fourth with 236 and Ron Dubeau in fifth with 208. Mark Broat, Ron Karto Jr., Ben Cutler Jr., Wayne Wells, and Jamie Dixon round out the top ten. Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with qualifying for FASTRUCKS and FASTKIDS at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $15.00 adults, $10.00 seniors and students, kids 11 and under FREE. New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR44 and SR415 between I-95 and I-4 eight miles west of New Smyrna in beautiful Samsula, Fla. Have an opinion on this story?
