The King of the Florida Short Tracks Enters Five Flags Shootout | Pensacola, Florida - Pensacola loves racing again! New and old Racing fans, new and old are flocking to the historic Five Flags Speedway. This week, Bryant Motorsports brings some of the country’s top Super Late Model drivers to town for Round Two of the five–race Blizzard Series 100s. Florida Peninsula pilots, Dick Anderson of Wildwood and Justin Drawdy of Ft Pierce, have entered and are likely to mount strong challenges for the victory. Anderson, who has won countless races at tracks from one end of the sunshine state to the other, and has been recognized as "King of the Florida Short Tracks", has never won at the high-banked half-mile Pensacola oval, but aims to change that on this visit.
The stellar field of Super Late Model sharpshooters, have in their sight the big bonus for anyone who can win the Blizzard Series 100 on Friday and repeat the feat in the 100 lapper race at Mobile International Speedway on Saturday. Also targeted are valuable points, which can earn the two top guns in the series starting slots in the Biggest Late Model race in the country, the 37th annual Snowball Derby this December.
Three former Snowball Derby winners have also entered, including last years champion, Charlie Bradberry, who was also the 2003 NASCAR Auto Zone Southeastern Series titleholder. 1977 winner, Ronnie Sanders who has several Winston Cup races on his resume, will be driving for local car owner and former track champion Tracy Goodson. Dave Mader III, who won the prestigious event in 1978 and drove for the famous Harry Melling Winston Cup team, will also be on hand, along with the likes of Jeremy Pate, Eddie Mercer, Donald Long, Dale Littles, Roger Ruesse, Jesse Lucio, David Hole, Ryan Crane, and many more.
Also on tap will be feature events in all four local divisions: Bombers, Spectators, Super Stock and Modifieds, with valuable season points on the line. These classes are largely responsible for the tracks tremendous growth. They have become favorites for area fans with some of the fiercest racing seen in years at the Pine Forest Road speedplant.
Admission pricing for Friday night is $15.00 for adults, with children 11 & under getting in free. Pit admission is $25.00. Pit gates open at 3:00 pm. Grandstands open at 5:00 pm. Super Late Model qualifying begins at 7:00 pm with the first race starting at 8:00 pm sharp.
