BRASELTON, Ga. -- Veteran American Speed Association competitor Ed Brown will head to the tight short track of Lanier Speedway this weekend in an attempt to recover from a spectacular crash in the series opener last month, which saw a potential top-five finish diminish right out the window.
Brown, a native of Leesburg Florida heads into the Lanier 250 this weekend itching for his second top-five finish of his career. Last season, Brown conquered several obstacles and collected a career best fourth place finish at Jennerstown Speedway.
Family Tree & Oil has linked with EBR Racing, and will proudly serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the second event of the 2004 ASA season.
Scrap Vinyl, Grubb's Auto Repair, and AutoZone will be plastered on car 60 as associate sponsors this weekend.
"It's definitely nice to be recognized for all of our hard work," said Brown who is looking forward to a strong future with Family Tree. "I'm hoping that we'll play the cards right this weekend, along with a little luck, and a top five finish shouldn't be out of the question Saturday night," he continued.
Despite latching Family Tree & Oil, the team is still desperately looking for sponsors and advertisers for the rest of the season. "We are honored to have Family Tree & Oil on board, but we're still looking," added the former late model racer.
After the disappointing run in Lakeland, the team would like to make a huge leap in the point standings this weekend. Brown finished a career best 17th in the driver standings last season, and he feels that his team can easily squash that record. "It's a shame what happened in Lakeland, but that's racing. It's still early in the season, I'm confident that we can gain the ground and be in the top-ten at the end of the year," commented Brown who currently sits 34th in the championship standings.
The Lanier 250 is the second of 16 events on the 2004 American Speed Association schedule. Practice and qualifying are on the agenda this Saturday, May 1st with the race set to take the green flag Saturday night, May 1st. The Speed channel will air the event live beginning at 9:00 PM EST.
