Full Program for New Smyrna Fans on April 24th includeing the SHOW DOLLS | by Jane Smith Samsula, Fla. (April 21, 2004) A big night of events are in store for the fans of New Smyrna Speedway this Saturday, April 24th. Not only will the Super Late Models return and the Open Wheel Modifieds but there is a 50 lap Sportsman race plus a 25 lap Strictly Stock race and the New Smyrna Show Dolls. Saturday night will also be Winn Dixie Night with any employee of Winn Dixie who shows their paycheck stub will get in free Saturday night for all the events. David Rogers leads the Super Late Model points but it was B.J. McLeod who won the last Super Late feature at New Smyrna and stands second in points. Coming in third is Eric Black who has become a regular on Saturday nights at New Smyrna. Chet Morrison stands fourth with Brent Hobbs in fifth. Newcomer Josh Schmidt leads the Late Models in points over Troy Atkins. The Late Models will also be in action this Saturday. Mark Smith runs third in points followed by Charlie Merz and Don Hess, winner of last week's feature race. Bobby Blake, the 2003 Open Wheel Modified Champion, leads the way for the Open Wheel Modifieds but only 24 points behind Blake is the 2003 Orlando SpeedWorld Open Wheel Modified Champion Matt Wheeler. Wheeler, who took off the first three weeks of racing to get married, has moved up in points quickly since his return. Chad Pierce comes in third with his No. 51 Open Wheel Modified followed by Tank Tucker and Jim "Hoot" Flynn. Sportsman will go for 50 laps this Saturday night with Donny Williams leading the points. But it has been Chris Peludat who has won the last two Sportsman races at New Smyrna. Chris is second in points followed by Dale Clouser, Ken Lewton, and Cory Kaiser. Expect to see a number of Sportsman in the field and hopefully a few new ones. Qualifying for the Sportsman will be at 6:45 p.m. Super Stocks will have the night off as they have a 50 lap race at Orlando SpeedWorld on Friday night but the Mini Stocks will be racing with Brian Bellaw leading Chad Carpenter in points. Last week's winner Ted "Mr Mini Stock" Vulpius stands third with Wayne Wells and Ron Dubeau completing the top ten. Also, the Strictly Stocks will go for 25 laps which means watch out, hold on, you are in for a ride. Expect to see a large field of this novice class. Fans will also be entertained by the Show Dolls of New Smyrna who have won many trophys for their dancing talent. They have planned a special show just for the New Smyrna fans. Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. General admission will be $15.00, seniors and students $10.00, reserved seating 20.00 and children 11 and under Free.
