FASTRUCKS, FASTKIDS top the bill at New Smyrna Speedway on April 17th

Samsula, Fla. (April 14, 2004) FASTRUCKS and FASTKIDS make their first appearance at New Smyrna Speedway this Saturday night as FASTRUCKS go for 50 laps of racing action and the FASTKIDS 25 laps of action. Along with the FASTRUCKS and FASTKIDS will be the Late Models, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock.

Jimmy Gill leads the FASTRUCK points coming into Saturday's race at New Smyrna Speedway followed by David Pollen, Jr., Marty Zehr, Jeff Firestine, Al Neumann, Tommy King, Brandon Andersen, George Morales, Tim Shaffner, and Gary Foxworth. A good number of trucks are expected for Saturday's race.

The FASTKIDS make their very first appearance at New Smyrna Speedway on Saturday with Matt Martin holding a seven point lead over second place David Pollen, Jr. Josh Crenshaw, Cody Pitts, Dalton Zehr, Tyler Kelley, Spencer Taylor, Amanda Gogel and Mitchell Webb complete the top nine in points.

Also in action will be the FASCAR Late Models where Charlie Merz leads the points. Ever since Steve Park won in Charlie's Late Model back in January at the Victory Junction Gang Charity Race, Charlie has found more power and determined to show that he too can win.

Troy Atkins, our youngest Late Model driver, comes in second in points followed by Randy Dye, Josh Schmidt and Mark Smith.

The Sportsman divisions will also see action Saturday night as Donny Williams, the 2002 Sportsman Champion, leads the points again in 2004. Williams, who spent a year away from us, returned with the same winning ways.

Coming in second and also looking for the Sportsman Championship this year is Dale Clouser. Clouser and Williams can certainly give each other a run for the money as they do every week they race.

Cory Kaiser stands third in points and has worked hard improving his No. 48K Sportsman. Ken Lewton and Joe Gerard round out the top five.

Brian Bellaw, the 2002 and 2003 Late Model Champion at New Smyrna, switched from Late Models to Mini Stocks for 2004 and has shown that he still "has it" when it comes to a Mini Stock. Bellaw leads the points over Chad Carpenter, Ted "Mr Mini Stock" Vulpius, Ron Dubeau and Wayne Wells.

Ron Whaley leads the Super Stock points over fellow competitor Jeff Colburn, Jack Lenzen, 2003 Champion Charlie Collins, and Barry Parks. These guys go at it hard every weekend and all want the Championship this year.

Grandstands will open at 6 p.m. with pit gates opening at 2 p.m. Qualifying for the FASTRUCKS will be at 6:45 with racing action at 7:30. New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR 44 and SR 415 between I-4 and I-95 eight miles west of New Smyrna in beautiful Samsula, Florida.
