King rebounds at Auburndale | Rick Bristol April 10th - Orlando FL. - Defending FASTRUCK Series champion Tommy King rebounded from a tough first race at Lakeland to post a solid top five finish. King would post the second quickest time in qualifying behind Sean Bass. That would lock him in to the main event. " I held back a little in qualifying, too conservative after some brake problems earlier in practice. Felt like we should have been quite a bit better than that, track was slick too" said King. After two 12 lap B-mains the field would be set. Then the inversion as Bass would draw a ten so the top ten inverted for the start. That would place King starting from the ninth spot. King made some good moves early to get to fifth. He then tried the outside knowing he had to get by the four in front of him. Several early cautions and a total of 13 slowed the race and eventually shortened from 75 laps to 50. the out side did not work for the P & H Mining Chevrolet Silverado and he fell back to eleventh. King then began to work his way back up and after getting back to seventh was in the right place at the right time as Sean Bass and George Morales tangled right in front of him. He made a good move to get by to take the fifth place at the checkers. " I have to compliment Sean Bass he ran behind me most of the night and ran me very clean, I appreciate that. We were bogged down in traffic a lot but he never got impatient, I will return the favor sometime" said King. The P & H Mining Equipment, Bob Elliott Greenwood Chevrolet, Hawk Brakes,Mothers Car Wash, Suspension Spring Specialists,Racermate Alternators, Wiggins Construction entry will now ready for the high banks or the half mile New Smyrna Speedway this Saturday the 17th. " We want another solid effort to get us back in contention for the points title, we will be ready" added King. The Number 16 Chevrolet of Tommy King will take on a whole host of the FASTRUCK series drivers this Saturday night under the lights, be there. Have an opinion on this story?
