Super Stock 50 headlines April 10th Program at New Smyrna | by Jane Smith Samsula, Fla (April 6, 2004) One month has passed since the 2004 season opened at New Smyrna Speedway. Fans have gotten plenty of racing action from the Hooter's Pro Cup race on March 20th to the Tommy Patterson Memorial on April 3. This weekend the Super Stocks will be features as they go for 50 laps of beatin and bangin action. Coming into the 50 lapper, Jeff Colburn leads the points for the Super Stock division. But not far behind Colburn is Jack Lenzen who is ready for his first win of the season. Ron Whaley sits in third with 2003 Champion Charlie Collins in fourth and Barry Parks, one of the Strictly Stock drivers who has moved to Super Stock, in fifth. Rick Johns, Josh Wronkowski, Jason Foster, Jason Dreyer, and Mike Hendrix round out the top ten. The Super Stocks will qualify around 6:30 p.m. Also on the program for Saturday night, April 10th, are the Super Late Models who had the weekend off last weekend due to the Sunbelt Super Late Model race at Bronson Motor Speedway. David Rogers leads the points for the Super Lates over Louisiana driver Chet Morrison. Eric Black runs third in points followed by B.J. McLeod in fourth and Bruce Lawrence in fifth. Bruce Lawrence Jr., Joe Fitos, Morgan Hoover, and Bobby Fleckinger round out the top ten. The Late Model division will have the weekend off as they travel to Bronson Motor Speedway for the Goodyear Challenge Late Model 100 lap event. Late Models will return on April 17th. Charlie Merz leads the points for the Late Model divison over Troy Atkins, Randy Dye, Josh Schmidt and Mark Smith. Rounding out the top ten are Travis Wilson, Micael Williams, Mike Murphy, Don Hess, and Tim Clark. Open Wheel Modifieds return after having a weekend off for the Tommy Patterson Memorial United Pro Modified 50 lap event. Bobby Blake, the 2003 Champion, leads the points thus far over Tank Tucker, Jim Flynn, Brad Mad and Matt Wheeler. Chad Pierce, Glen Bradley, Dave Savicki, Art Kunzeman, and Adam McMaster complete the top ten. Donny Williams leads the points for the Sportsman division over Ken Lewton, Dale Clouser, Ron Lufcy and Cory Kaiser. Williams was the 2002 Sportsman Champion at New Smyrna. Completing the top ten are Joe Gerard, Bruce McConigal, Chris Peludat, Tom Gamache, and Paul Hudson. Brian Bellaw, who was the 2002 and 2003 Late Model Champion, is showing that he still can wheel a Mini Stock as he leads the points for the Mini Stock division. Following Bellaw is the 2003 Mini Stock Champion Ted "Mr Mini Stock" Vulpius. Chad Carpenter, Ben Cutler Jr., and Ron Dubeau round out the top five. Wayne Wells, Pug Puglisi, Mark Broat, Ronald Karto Jr., and Ray Martin round out the top ten. Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. Qualifying for the Super Stock 50 will be at 6:30 p.m. with racing action at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $10.00 adults, $5.00 senior citizens and students, kids 11 and under FREE and reserved seating $15.00.
