March 26 Orlando FL.
RJ Arnone would return to the Orlando Speedworld winners circle for the first time since 1997 friday night. He charged from eleventh to win the 15 Lap Mini-stock main event.
The Giovanni's Italian Restaurant, Broward Factory Services,Pennzoil, Cheney Automotive,Penske Shocks, Terri Orr Remax Reality, Bobby Sears race engines Ford owned by Rick Bristol began from the eleventh starting spot and was quickly on the move gaining several spots before the first caution would fly. Arnone would use a cautiously aggressive plan to move up to fifth after just 5 laps.
On the restart he would grab fourth, and a lap later a close call as a car dumped fluid in turn one and spun. Arnone saw it and spun to avoid the contact, track officials would give him spot back. Ashley was leading with Lazslo second and Arnone now third.
Another restart and it would go green a couple laps before leader Ashley slowed with a blown motor. Lazslo grabbed the lead with Arnone in tow. With four laps to go Lazslo's truck slipped off turn two opening the door for Arnone to slip by to the lead. Another caution set up a green, white checkered finish and Arnone held on for the win over Lazslo and Delmastro.
"Wow this is great" said RJ in victory lane with announcer Dave Westerman. "I have to thank our sponsors and my family. And thanks to Rick Bristol for the opportunity to drive this car and for preparing my old car that we will have out soon. It is really sharp and we will have two cars to run the rest of the year" added Arnone.
"RJ did a real nice job tonight it is tough starting in the rear, but he drove a smart race. I want to really thank Bobby Sears for a great engine and for his extra efforts this week to get us ready" said owner Rick Bristol." I have to as always thank the Lord for a safe night and the blessing of winning" added Bristol.
The team looks to recover from a late start to the season to be a contender in the championship. " I want to also add a thank you to Dick Lazslo who last week helped us figure out an ignition problem we were having he is a good friend and I enjoy racing with him" added Arnone. The Giovanni's Italian Restaurant team will again have to start at the back of the heat as this weeks feature winner.
