Orlando and New Smyrna Speedway return to Regular Racing Action March 26 and 27 | by Jane Smith Samsula, Fla. (March 24, 2004) After the USAR Hooter's ProCup race last Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway and the first race of the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series last Friday night at SpeedWorld, drivers go back to regular FASCAR racing this weekend. At Orlando SpeedWorld, the Super Lates, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock are back in action with an added feature this Friday night showcasing the Legends. Although only one race is under his belt, Chet Morrison holds the points lead for the Super Late Models at SpeedWorld. Morrison, who ran in the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series in 2003, comes from LA. to race Florida style. Rusty Ebersole, the 2003 Super Late Model Champion, sits second with Ricky Wood, Jared Allison and Chuck Burkhalter rounded out the top five. Rick Bates, B.J. McLeod, Patrick Conrad, Josh Schmidt and Ronnie Roach complete the top ten. Ricky Wood is doing double duty as he races his Super Late Model and Mike Samples's No. 81 Open Wheel Modified. Ricky is currently the points leader for the Mods at SpeedWorld.
Second in points is Mark Emberson followed by George Murhpy, Chad Pierce and Skip Honaker, last week's feature winner. Wayne Heckle, Jerry Artuso, Dave Debelius, Rusty Purdue, and Ken McCracken complete the top ten. Earl Beckner has taken both feature wins in the Sportsman division to see himself on top of the points. Newcomer to the division, Bobby Joe Woodley of Melbourne, sits second in points followed by Richard Hight, Bruce Gayton, and Ricky Wood. Dennis Gilliam, Cory Kaiser, Donnie Smith, Joe Adams and Glenn Castro complete the top ten. Ron Whaley sits atop the Super Stock division with last year's Champion Cory Freed in second. Bob Beiler comes in third followed by Ted Head and Bill Loomis. Andy Nichols, Bobby Riley, John Bennett, Harvey Gibbons, and Justin Reynolds round out the top five. Dick Laszlo leads the points for the Mini Stock division followed by newcomer Chad Ashley of Auburndale. Sean Bass, also from Auburndale, comes in third followed by newcomer Allie Owens and Stephen Simpson. Micheal Seay, Mike Fetherston, Bob Delmastro, John Cook, and Matt Roller round out the top ten. On Saturday night at SpeedWorld, Patrick Conrad leads the Legends with 3 straight wins. Scott Jarrett has the lead for the Bandolero Young Guns with Chad Akins in the lead for the Bandolero Bandits. Dave Jarrett holds the lead for the Outlaw Bandoleros. New Smyrna Speedway will showcase Super Late Models, Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock this Saturday night, March 27. David Rogers leads the points with his feature win of two weeks ago followed by Chet Morrison, Eric Black, Joe Fitos, and Bobby Coyle. Michael Williams has the point lead for the Late Models followed by Randy Dye, Tim Calrk, Troy Atkins, and Charlie Merz. Tank Tucker returned to racing after a year's absence and took the first feature win of 2004 giving him the point lead for the Open Wheel Modifieds. Brad May, Bobby Blake, Chad Pierce and Dave Savicki complete the top five. Donnie Williams, after having been away in 2003 with the Army Reserves, came back in his No. 111 Sportsman and took the first feature win giving him the early point lead in 2004. Ron Lufcy, Joe Gerard, Ken Lewton, and Bruce McConigal complete the top five. Jeff Colburn has the points lead for the Super Stock division with Rick Johns, Jack Lenzen, Jason Foster and Mike Hendrix in the top five. Sitting on top of the Mini Stock division is Brian Bellaw followed by Ted Vulpius, Ron Dubeau, Chad Carpenter, and Ben Cutler, Jr. Orlando SpeedWorld is located between SR 50 and SR 520 in Bithlo, Florida. Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing action at 8:00 p.m. General admission $10.00, $5.00 seniors and students, children 11 and under free. New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR 44 and SR 415 between I-4 and I-95 eight miles west of New Smyrna in beautiful Samsula, Florida. Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing action starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission $10.00, seniors and students $5.00, children 11 and under free.
