NASCAR DREAM: Florida Racing School Featured In National Geographic Documentary | -KARNAC Staff Report
"Brad Kuhn grips the steering wheel of his stock car as he drives on to a Florida racetrack. His heart is pumping as he moves in alongside the other cars he's going to race." That is the lead in for a new segment of National Geographic show coming on March 24.
The lead in contiunues, "He goes over and over all the things he learned at racing school, trying to stay calm. Suddenly, the green flag is up. Brad Kuhn is off on the race of his life."
The story features Brad Kuhn, a 22-year-old Indiana native who lives, eats and breathes racing. When we meet him, he is a midget and sprint car driver from a working class family with dreams of one day getting in to stock car racing.
The story follows Brad's passion as he enrolls in the Finish Line Racing School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, goes through three days of training and finally enters a real local race against some of the best amateur drivers in the country.
It's a documentary that not only race fans will love but everyone who loves a story about a guy who pursues his dream with everything he's got. It's a story that shows the toil, hardship, passion and desire. This is one road trip you won't want to miss.
An additional reason to watch for Stock Car fans is Mike Loesher, the owner of Finish Line Racing School and is a veteran teacher, racer and setup man.
Mike has plenty of experience developing aspiring racers at New Smyrna Speedway, a place where he himself once raced open wheel Modifieds.
Loescher learned his driving skills in the Featherlite Modified Series, the fastest horsepowered cars in NASCAR. He also has a knack on car set ups. He is often found in the pits help fine tuning a race car.
He can also be found in the early morning before practice, walking his students around the speedway, showing them the weak and positive points of a speedway.
