Citrus Changes February 21st & 28th Schedule | BY Larry MacMillan
Inverness, Fl. 2/12/04 - Lots of questions and rumors have been answered and verified by Citrus County General Manager Tim Christman as changes are being posted to the February Schedule that has been posted.
The announced Enduro and Demolition Derby for the 28th of February have been postponed until a later date and that new information will posted as soon as it is received from the front office.
Citrus will be dark Saturday February 14 during Speedweek Daytona 500 action.
The restart of the preseason races on February 21st has been changed as follows:
The Florida Mini Stock Challenge will kick off their season with time trials and a big feature race
The Southern Sportsman/Super Stock Series makes its first appearance at Citrus for 2004.
A Hobby Stock Special will split the field in half from qualifying with the first half of the qualifying drivers racing for 50 laps and $500 to win. The second half qualifying drivers will race for 25 laps and $200 to win.
plus Thunder Stocks and 4 Cylinder Bombers will balance out the program for Saturday February 21st.
Our Street Stocks and Mini Stocks are off but can participate in the FMSC or Sporsman/SS races if they choose.
The schedule for the 26th of February will feature the UPM Modified Special for their season opener. They will be qualifying in time trials and a big feature race. Added to the program will be the Figure 8s for their first race of the year plus the Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks and 4 Cylinder Bombers in heat and feature action.
Citrus will be closed for the entire month of March to make room for the Citrus County Fair activities and some electrical maintenance work that needs to be done at the fairgrounds and race track. The 2004 season will turn it on for 32 weeks of non stop racing except July the 3rd during the Pepsi 400 Saturday night race. Points will begin for all divisions on April 3rd.
