C.A.R.S. Motorsports offers Apology to its Sponsors and Fans | Orlando Fl. - C.A.R.S. Motorsports has released this statement in regards to friday nights DQ at Orlando Speedworld: "I first want to apologize to our sponsors and fans for any embarrassment this may have caused them. I would also like to opologize to Chad Pierce and his family for any embarresment it may have caused them as well. I want all them to know that we do not race that way here and will fix the problems. That head has been on the car since mid 2001 season. It was taken along with the clutch to tech inspector Donnie Lewis by Pete Orr before the 2002 season to be checked and was cleared by Donnie. He also checked us twice last year, once early in which we had to pull the intake side and exhaust after a win. He later in the year checked the intake side again as well as the carb. At no time were we told there was a problem. If we had known it would have been fixed as we were running for the championship the whole reason we cleared all this before the season. There was some grind marks in the ports that had been started but not finiished by the heads previous owner. There was several folks in the teardown area Friday that thought the head looked fine, from other cars and teams. Donnie Lewis after clearing us then returned with Don Nerone and then they DQ'd the car. I have no problem being dq'd if I am wrong but for Donnie Lewis to say that he never checked that head or it was a different one is totally wrong. Those that know me know I don't lie. Donnie used vulgar language in calling me a liar Friday then proceeded in calling my former driver Carl Green who knows the head is the same and tried to talk to him about it, a vulgar name and liar as well. Bobby Orr who drove the car to a championship knows also that this is the same head. The plastic trophy and the 100 dollars means nothing to me but my name and respect does and Donnie Lewis offended me the other night not for the DQ but for calling me a liar and actually not facing the truth himself. I have always liked Donnie Lewis and shown him respect and feel very bad at the way this was handled. We will rectify the problem and come back and show that the head had nothing to do with how we run. We have a good car and good drivers that have helped us be a winning team. I thank those that know me and my family that have called and given us there support we appreciate it. Those that will remain with our team and the new sponsors we are working on for next year know that we will do what it takes to make sure the car is legal when told what needs to be done or checked. Thanks to all for there support."
The team hopes to have things ready to go by the 14th and to compete in the FMSC event at New Smyrna Speedway on the 22nd. Regardless the team will prep the car for 2004 if unable to finish the 2003 season events. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! or send a letter to the editor!
