Goodyear Challenge Late Models visit Charlotte County Speedway last time in 2003 | by Jane Smith
Samsula, Fla (October 28, 2003) The FASCAR Goodyear Challenge will once again find themselves at Charlotte County Speedway this Saturday, November 1, for 100 laps of the best Late Model racing in Florida.
"We are very happy to have the Goodyear Challenge Late Models back at Charlotte County and this time it will be for 100 green flag laps," said track owner Leroy Davidson. "Our fans are definitely looking forward to a great night of racing action." Davidson added.
"With only one race left on November 15th at New Smyrna Speedway, a good finish will be very helpful in the points," said second place Rich Clouser. Clouser stands only 43 points behind points leader Jerry Artuso. "Bobby Sears has given me a great car and we did well last time at Charlotte so we are very hopeful of a good finish Saturday."
Larry Osteen is not giving up his hopes to move up in points as he is only 32 points behind Clouser at 699 points and third. Joe Sumasky stands fourth with 604 points but Steve Smith is not giving Sumasky much room since he stands only 1 point behind Sumasky at 603.
Sean Murphy comes in sixth with 582 points and holds a seven point lead over Jason Boyd who stands at 575 points. Boyd has had a fast car but not much luck of late. But expect to see the No.15 go towards the front as fast as she will go.
Jimmy Castleberry comes home eighth at 537 points followed by Brent O'Neill who is only two points behind Castleberry at 535. Brad May rounds out the top ten with 494 points.
Charlotte County Speedway is located east of I-75 exit 28 on SR 768 then north to Piper Road near the airport. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
