Super Stocks go for 50 Laps Friday Night at SpeedWorld | by Jane Smith
Bithlo, Fla (October 15, 2003) Fall is in the air finally as racing gets hotter with the points season coming to a close. Friday night at SpeedWorld the Super Stocks will go for 50 laps and you can bet your bottom dollar, it will be one action packed race.
The Super Late Models will have the night off as they prepare for 125 laps of Sunbelt Super Late Model action at USA International Speedway in Lakeland on Saturday. When the Super Lates return on October 24th, Rusty Ebersole holds a 16 point lead over B.J. McLeod. These two have gone at it all year long and don't expect the last few weeks of points to be any different. This Championship will definitely go down to the wire. Coming in third is Ricky Wood followed by Ronnie Roach and Rick Bates. David Hart, Eric Deffendall, Rick Lyons, Mack Hanbury and Jared Allison complete the top ten in points for Super Lates.
Derrick Wood leads the Bandolero Bandits with 788 points but coming in second behind Wood is Chad Akins with 772 points. Gerald White Jr., Matthew Jarrett and Josh Williams completes the top five.
Kevin Henry has a good point lead in the Bandolero Young Guns with 832 points followed by Brandon Thomsom with 716. Scott Jarrett comes in third with 672 points followed by Jessica Murphy with 476 and Troy Atkins with 436.
Matt Wheeler leads the Open Wheel Modified points with 564 but coming in second and not far behind Wheeler is Shane Held with 532 points. Lynn Dicandio moved into third with 412 points followed by Jason Boyd with 368 and coming in fifth is Glen Bradley with 360 points.
Dave Riley, Jared Allison, Frank Polly, and Terri Bryant complete the top nine but tied in tenth place are Jim “Hoot” Flynn and Darren Gould. Richard Hight basically has the Sportsman Championship in hand as he leads that division with 767 points. Donnie Smith comes in second with 440 followed by Michael Albert with 368, Danny Shearer with 332 and Justin Hall with 308. Robert Hight, Doug Samion, Rob Kayse, Bill Hall and Cory Kaiser fill out the top ten.
Tim “Missileman” McPhail is headed towards his second Mini Stock Championship as he leads the Mini Stock points with 692 points. Dick Laszlo took over second last week with this third place finish. Laszlo now sits at 496 points followed by Sean Bass with 456. Randy Blakeslee comes in fourth with 260 points and rounding out the top five is R.J. Arnone with 200 points.
Michael Williams Jr., Robbie Storer, Michael Seay, Chad Ashley and Bob Delmastro complete the top ten.
Super Stocks will go for 50 laps Friday night and expect to see a very large field. Cory Freed, 2002 Super Stock Champion, leads the points once again and is looking for his second consecutive championship as he stands at 660 points. Ron Whaley comes in second with 488 followed by Bob Wines in third with 448. Bob Beiler comes in fourth with 388 points followed by Andy Nichols in fifth with 288.
Mike Soukup, Ron Edwards, Billy Cuddy, Wally Semrow, and Butch Pierce complete the top ten.
