Legends plus all FASCAR divisions are on Program Friday Night for SpeedWorld | by Jane Smith
Bithlo, Fla. (September 17, 2003) Orlando SpeedWorld will see plenty of racing action this weekend as Legends plus Super Lates, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stocks top the bill.
Rusty Ebersole took a sixteen point lead over B.J. McLeod in the Super Late Model points battle last Friday night. McLeod, who was leading the race, had one of those "racing things" with Chris Fontaine and ended up spinning in turns 1 and 2. With only a few laps left, McLeod had to start at the rear and worked his way to sixth. Ricky Wood comes in third in points with 300 followed by Ronnie Roach with 192 and Rick Bates with 188 to round out the top five. With racing season slowly winding down, the action will only get hotter for these guys.
The Open Wheel Modifieds were off last weekend due to the FASCAR Pro Modified 50 lap race but they return to action this Friday night. Matt Wheeler leads the points with 468 over second place Shane Held with 432. This promises to be a battle down to the wire for the Championship.
Jason Boyd comes in third with 368 followed by Lynn Dicandio, who has a four point lead, over fifth place Glen Bradley. This will definitely be a battle down to the last race for places.
Richard Hight has the Sportsman Championship basically tied up with his 723 points. Michael Albert and Donnie Smith are tied in second with 368 points each followed by Danny Shearer with 288 points. Rounding out the top five is Justin Hall with 276 points.
Tim "Missileman" McPhail leads the Mini Stock division with 600 points. But it is second and third who are fighting neck and neck. Sean Bass edged four points ahead of Dick Laszlo to take over the second spot last week putting Laszlo third. R.J. Arnone, who had motor problems last weekend, comes in fourth with 208 points followed by Mike Williams, Jr. with 180.
Cory Freed is on his way to his second Super Stock Championship as he leads the Super Stock division with 588 points. Coming in second is Ron Whaley with 432 points followed by Bob Wines with 412. Bob Beiler has moved into fourth with 312 points followed by fifth place Mike Soukup with 260 points.
Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing action at 8:00 p.m. Orlando SpeedWorld is located between SR50 and SR520 in Bithlo, Florida. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! or send a letter to the editor!
