First race of Gulfcoast Triple Classic presented by Bearden Oil/Southern Race Fuels this Saturday | by Jane Smith
Tampa, Fla (September 10, 2003) The first race of the Bearden Oil/Southern Race Fuels sponsored Gulfcoast Triple Classic, the Bud Light 50/Gulfcoast Triple Classic, will run this Saturday night (September 13) at Sunshine Speedway.
This is the first leg of the Triple Classic with leg number two on October 25th at Charlotte County Speedway in Port Charlotte and a 75 lap race. The last leg will be a 100 lap feature at Bronson Motor Speedway on November 9th..
Bearden Oil and Southern Race Fuels are proud to be the sponsors of this year's event and hope that it becomes a popular event every year. Atter the last race at Bronson, there will be a number of prizes that the top ten drivers can win among them a Gulfcoast Spec Engine by Dave Pletcher Racing. The top ten will also draw for a OWM Body/Mounted, OWM Chassis, Four Bilstein Shocks, $1,200 in machine work, four Landrum Springs, fifty gallon drum of fuel, $500.00 cash, four Goodyear Tires and Four Hoosier Tires. Those not in the top ten will draw for a separate prize of 4 Hatrack Shocks worth about $800.00.
There will also be a Pole Award for each race given by Hatrack Shocks and RPM Signs and a Hard Charger Award given by Webb Roofing.
In order to allow all Florida Open Wheel Modified drivers to compete in the Gulfcoast Triple Classic presented by Bearden Oil and Southern Race Fuels, Officials have decided weight will be the equalizer. Spec Engine Mods need to weigh 2500 lbs. The unlimited engines need to weigh 2750 lbs. with 50 of those pounds in front of the flywheel with aluminum heads. Unlimited engines above .358 cubic inches will be 7 lbs. per cubic inch.
