| Big Weekend for Orlando SpeedWorld | by Jane Smith
Bithlo, Fla. (September 3, 2003) Although the weather does not look very promising, fans and drivers of Orlando SpeedWorld are looking forward to both a Friday and Saturday night show this weekend.
Friday night the Pro Modifieds return to the high banks of Orlando SpeedWorld for 50 laps of non-stop action. Also on the program with the Pro Mods are the Super Lates, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock.
Jerry Symons comes into Friday night's action leading the Pro Modified Series with 408 points. Second in points is Alan McCafferty who has already gotten one win this year at SpeedWorld. McCafferty sits only 30 points behind Symons.
Skip Honaker of Titusville will be a local favorite at SpeedWorld as he comes in third with 311 points. But only four points behind Honaker is Jim "Hoot" Flynn with 307 points and a pretty new modified. D.J. Hoelzle stands fifth in points but the rumor has it that D.J. has everything up for sale and will probably not be at the track Friday night.
Completing the top ten are Red Vann, Alan Bruns, Jason Boyd, Bryan Campbell and Raymond Vann. The Pro Mods will move on to New Smyrna Speedway on Saturday for another 50 lap feature. This will certainly show who really is "the best of the best".
On Saturday, September 6, Spectacular II will run at Orlando SpeedWorld. This racing event has some of the best traveling series in the state and always draws a good number of cars in each division.
On the program Saturday night will be the Legends, Classic Auto Racing Series, Mod Lites, Pro Challenge, TQ Late Models, Mini Cup and Bandoleros.
Grandstand admission for Saturday night is just $5 and kids 12 and under get in free. Pit area admission is $20. For more information call 407-568-1367 or 407-340-4194.
Grandstands open at 6 p.m. on Friday night with racing action at 8 p.m. Orlando SpeedWorld is located between SR50 and SR520 in Bithlo, Florida.
