by Jane Smith

Samsula, Fla (August 21, 2003) All FASCAR divisoins will be in racing action Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway except for the Open Wheel Modifieds who will have the night off. But there will be a V-8 Demo Derby which is always very popular with the fans.

The Super Late Models and the Late Models had last weekend off when the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series ran a 100 lap event at New Smyrna. But it is David Rogers coming into Saturday night's action with the points lead for the Super Lates. B.J. McLeod moved into second with 360 points over third place Wayne Parker with 252 putting these two drivers in a close points battle for second.

Guy Thomas comes in fourth with 220 points over fifth place David Frohlich with 176. Joe Fitos, Brent Hobbs, Mark Vandevender, Chris Fontaine and Mike Finn round out the top ten.

Brian Bellaw in his Jolly Roger's/Blackies Saloon No. 77 Late Model leads the points for the Late Model division and is doing his best for his second points championship. Tim Clark comes in second with 268 points followed by Mark Smith with 236, Bobby Orr with 180 and Timmy Todd with 172 who is also tied with Larry Osteen at 172. Don Hess comes in seventh with 156 followed by Chris Lawrence with 132 and David Rogers rounds out the top ten with 108.

The Open Wheel Modifieds will be off Saturday night but coming back into action on August 30th it will be Bobby Blake leading the points with 420 points followed by Mark Vandevender, Brad May, Matt Wheeler, and David Castello. Justin Henderson, Jim "Hoot" Flynn, Paul Duncan, John Zidek, and Skip Honaker round out the top ten.

Billy Spade leads the Sportsman division with 436 points followed by Ron Lufcy with 396 points. Bill Love comes in third with 276 points with Dale Clouser in fourth and only four points behind Love with 272 points. Chris Peludat comes in fifth with 244 points but since he has sold his Sportsman this could change this Saturday night.

Jim Snyder, John Nusbaum, Dusty Downer, Paul Colgan and Mike Trocki complete the top 10.

Ted "Mr Mini Stock" Vulpius holds a 12 point lead over second place Tim "Missileman" McPhail in the Mini Stock division. This will be a tight points battle until the very end of the season. Rex Christensen comes in third with 448 points followed by David Castello and Ben Hutto in the top five. Wayne Clark, Bob Delmastro, Troy Kruse, Chris Jones and Robbie Storer complete the top ten.

With his win last weekend, Charlie Collins took over the points in the Super Stock division by four over second place Ron Whaley. Collins stands at 496 points to Whaley's 492 points but the battle is far from over for these two. The Championship could go either way. Jeff Colburn comes in third with 364 points followed by Josh Wronkowski with 328 and Mike Amato with 276 points. Butch Pierce, Bob Trombley, Todd Driscoll, Rob Watford and Nick Vogler round out the top ten.

Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing action at 7:30 p.m. New Smyrna Speedway is located between SR44 and SR417 between I-4 and I-95 eight miles west of New Smyrna Beach in beautiful Samsula, Florida.
